I have never known a better Summer Olympics than the Summer Olympics hosted in Los Angeles. Besides the entertainment industry there were field, pools, tracks, etc. already built and available. I do believe Utah does as well with Winter Olympics but, I may be mistaken. Point: Awarding Olympics to areas that will displace poor people, ref.: London, build Olympic sites, watch them decay after those events is plainly absurd but the "rule". Who Profits? All that construction ain't free. Who pays? Yup! I have no doubt Koreans will honor this Olympic tradition. Give the Summer Games to L.A. in perpetuity until someone has something better. Likewise the Winter Games to a similar site. Normal people do not feel the economic advantages of hosting an Olympics. I do not buy that argument. A relatively few locals feel the economic advantage. Moi Don't Get Me Started
Its amazing what the evil USA can do isn't it? I wonder how they managed to get the Russians to set up that big doping program.
Sad, but true. The Olympic Games (cheats & corruption), the Oscar Awards (a popularity contest), and the Nobel Prize (a political guilt trip).
The US didn't get Russia to set up any doping program. They only managed to get the committees to turn a blind eye to their own doping program and focus on Russia's. Don't you remember when the US got several nations to boycott the Olympic Games in Moscow because the Soviets were at war (and occupied) Afghanistan? Well? Who was at war (and occupying) Afghanistan during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City? Do you recall any boycotting then? No? Ain't that strange.
It is difficult to see how the US has planned out the next 5 or 6 moves. Every powerful country has had its nationals caught in some kind of corrupt compromise, whether it’s doping or fixing. But those incidences are officially put down to over zealous trainers or glory-hunting athletes. What most people seem not to understand is that all of them are over-seen by the officials of each respective country. We only pretend it’s not true. So why not blow the whistle? Because the Olympic Games are big money makers. The host nation makes a gazillion at each event and the participant nations benefit by both commercial and political favours. It’s a Golden Goose. There is honesty among thieves, they say. They have their own set of rules to go by. Squealing is their Cardinal Sin and the US has just committed it. Now that Russia’s part in the unholy scheme has been exposed by the Americans the dominoes are going to fall, one by one. I assume the US has planned out their strategy when their own domino has fallen and I wonder what their next step will be if they don’t want the Goose to cook.
apparently three hundred and something Russian (neutral) athletes may be competing at the winter olympics... says the BBC Winter Olympics 2018: IOC approves list of 389 potential Russian neutral athletes http://www.bbc.com/sport/winter-olympics/42754984
The Olympics? What a joke. All they are now is a chance for a host country to orgasmically splurge on near-useless facilities and try to show the rest of the world how stupid - er - great they are. While the other competing countries try and whip their ignorant masses into a patriotic fury. The Olympics is supposed to be about amateurs. It has not been about that for decades. I love sports, but I could not give a **** about the Olympics.
I do not understand why Russian athletes should be forced to compete "clean" against the rest of the world that might be "dirty". If the gripe is against state-sponsored cheating why take it out out on the citizens? If this madness continues eventually American tourists will be rounded up in Switzerland and arrested for the war crimes committed by Bush Baby Junior and Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney.
You don't read too pretty good. Here are the main points again: "The US didn't get Russia to set up any doping program. They only managed to get the committees to turn a blind eye to their own doping program and focus on Russia's." But don't worry, the US is going to get the axe for the same crime ..... real soon.
That's just a feeble attempt to divert away from Russia's doping program by pointing to the US. There is no evidence the US had a doping program or that they somehow got the committees not to look at it.
You still don't read too pretty good. Here is the main point you missed: " ... the US is going to get the axe for the same crime ..... real soon." Evidence is what it is all about and the evidence you speak of will soon be exposed.
I predicted *the Vietnamese would win the war, that *the government was running secret human experiments at Edgewood Arsenal, that *Billy Clinton DID "have sexual relations with that woman", that *there were no WMD's in Irak, that *Reagan ordered Iran Gate, that *Julian Assange was NOT safe in Sweden (despite what he thought before he left), that *the US funded and supported ISIS, and that *Donald Trump would win the presidential election. I am now predicting the US is going to suffer a scandal over official, program of doping. There is already a whistle-blower who is weighing his options as we speak
I don't watch the Olympics. I think they are long past their due date. I think the latest issues with the doctor have simply proven something that has been true for years. They are a joke, dangerous to children forced into servitude by parents who are like those of the kids in beauty pageants, and, the athletes are paid by endorsements, so it isn't amateur competition.
This Olympics holds no excitement for Moi. What a dud. Unless Lindsay Vonn breaks herself. That would be "news". I wouldn't know there was an Olympics if I didn't see television time scheduled for it. How much were people ripped off so a few could get lucrative construction contracts, etc. All Winter Olympics should be in Utah where no new construction would be required. Or any similar site with the same qualifier, no new construction - or very much I mean has the weather most of the year, but what of the venues? How much is Paris going to need to construct to prepare for their Summer Olympics compared to Los Angeles!
