Dick's Sporting Goods will stop selling assault-style rifles

You don't understand how rights work. We don't have to need anything. If you can't come up with a good reason for banning something, then we have the right to have it if we choose to.

 

They were used for self defense during the LA riots when the police would not enter the area. A 15 year old used one to defend him and his 12 year-old sister from invaders.

I have a personal story. When I was a child, there was a gang shooting right in front of our home. There were dozens of gang members fighting right outside our front door. It was just my mother and myself. The whole incident took about 10-15 minutes and when it was over, I was still on the phone waiting for the police to answer. They never did. We were lucky they didn't need a hostage.

 

Because their only civilian function is massacre large groups of innocent people. DUH!

 

That is incorrect. They are used for self defense, hunting, and in competitive sport shooting.

Sounds good to me. 'Mom-and-pop' need some of their business back. We got too much of our money getting sucked into the 'big-box' abyss instead of recirculating in our local communities. I hope Walmart follows Dicks' example (cuz mom-and-pop aint gonna).

 

Why would anyone need a gun that can shoot multiple rounds or be easily concealed? You can protect your home with a shotgun, assuming if you confront a rare intruder.

 

The AR-15's were in the gun stores by 1958 being sold to civilians six years before the military adopted it.

Since the AR-15 was chambered for a varmint cartridge, the Remington .223 ( 5.56 X 45 mm ) it was advertised as a survival rifle and as a varmint hunting rifle.

 

I will never shop there again. So be it.

I've only been inside a Dick's sporting goods store once. The one in Upland, Ca. Was looking for a navy blue wool watch cap. They didn't have one and noticed all of their crap was over priced.

So Dick's goes politically correct. Dick's is a real dick by being PC.

They weren't going to get my money anyways.

 

So be it ... maybe they can sell crayons , coloring books and safe spaces .

You don't seem to understand civil rights. There is no requirement that anyone satisfy you or anyone else that they "need" anything.

A right can only be restricted is there is a very good reason for that restriction. Otherwise people can have whatever they choose and you have no say over it.

You don't get to choose what other people protect their homes with.

 

Actually it is the gun control advocates who tend to not be well endowed in certain areas.

 

Will not affect me at all. I buy all my guns at a local gun store. He orders me in what ever I want. Every once in awhile I will pick one up at a gun show.

 

But most criminals who use a guns are not white.

If it were black millennials committing mass shootings killing other black millennials it would still be Russia Russia Russia on CNN and you wouldn't hear a word from the Democrats in Congress.

I for one do not own an assault weapon but have several AR15s. Which might look like an assault weapon but it is not.

 

You do know it is Dick's not Dick's right? And do you realize there are alot of people named Richard and Dick is short for Richard. So if someone opens a sporting goods store and is named Richard it is really not much of a link to calling it Dick's sporting goods. Go to one once they sell guns as an after thought, not even worth going got to look at guns.

"Blaming the gun" isn't the issue.
Getting rid of guns is one way of addressing the issue.

The issue is murder.
The national culture of murder.

Explicitly, murders committed with guns.
Now undeniably, one way of stopping murders with guns is to get rid of guns.
Another way is to get rid of the people with guns.

If you want to blame shooters and not guns, that works too. But not for shooters.
American shooters are not a responsible bunch of people by and large.

 

Whites can't be Fatherless? That's ridiculous. While the African American family and neighborhood was ground zero for liberal pseudo compassion to decimate. It then spread and is still spreading into the remainder of American culture, including European (white) Americans. Liberalism doles out its poison to everyone. It has sickened our culture and calls it progress. And they cannot say that no one ever told them that it was wrong, hurtful, destructive, counter productive and foolish, because we've met them all along the way with the truth. And they have persisted regardless. So when they die and face God, they will have no excuse. And we can brush our hands of the matter on that point.
