NVN never did us nothing, and we went half way around the world and bombed the Beelzebub out of them. Yet they don't hold a grudge and don't do us terrorism or anything. Very magnanimous people.

Maybe, like the latte salute, its not a big deal. It may have been a faux pah, he may have been advised to salute, or maybe he was genuinely trying to show respect. Only Donald knows for sure.

It was just the first meeting, so we should not count our chickens before they hatch. We should probably not start clucking and flapping too soon either.

Do they have any relief regarding sanctions?

Kim was getting much stronger, but the USA has not been getting stronger.

Really this should have happened long ago, before there were nukes to deal with.

    Of course.

Which means this general saluted Trump first, and it clearly says that in the story.

Those of us less inclined to start screaming at the sky and were in the military know this.

Got to hand it to the grand Dog Whistle blowers at WaPo, and those who help them carry out their propaganda.

The President attempts to shake the mans hand first. Didn't salute him first.

What do the whiners want the President to do after the man salutes, give him a thumbs up?

Here is a description of that moment by another source:

    https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/po...ean-general/wLAdSav3K4qiquFOGLzhTN/story.html

When meeting No Kwang Chol, North Korea’s minister for the People’s Armed Forces and a top military leader, Trump initially tries to shake his hand. No pulls his hand back and then salutes the president. Trump then responds with his own salute in return, before the two men shake hands as Kim smiles in the background.
I can't understand how those on the hard left don't crumble under the embarrassment of this type of comedy.

    They don't get embarrassed.

They're constantly wrong but there will be some other stupid nonsense they fail at again tomorrow.

The OP is about Trump saluting the general. Did you think that aspect irrelevant or did you just not believe it happened?

Then you heard a biased report because Presidents do not usually salute foreign military, only our own.

I don't understand how Trumpettes fail to see that this event is viewed on the national and international stage as anything other than the President of the United States paying respect to the military of a foreign dictator. One notorious for using anything it can as propaganda, and this moment is already being used as such.

And that is a dictator which he also praises, refused to condemn, while simultaneously attacking allies.

Which is exactly what I responded to.

It's not my fault you don't understand what I said.

    Others clearly did.

Only idiots take a frame of a video to make a point. For the record I'm fine with what Trump did, but I 'm sure if it were a Democrat who did the same thing, you wouldn't be.

The great challenge for those pushing this type of dog whistle, is gauging how the general public will react to that effort. No problem knowing how their target audience will respond. It's created for them to make money. But the general public?

Obviously the creators of this type of spin propaganda know full well there is nothing to it, so that is why they erase the context.

Again, the average person would understand the moment, while the hard left tries to manipulate it.

It's got to be eating at the minds of those trying to destroy the President that well received actions, like this meeting, is pushing their views and absurd efforts farther and farther away from the objective they are desperate to achieve.

I know what he did. I didn't even realize it was a diplomatic faux pas to return a salute from the general of a nation you were
trying to peacefully coexist with. FDR saluted Joe Stalin, for instance.

I assumed after shaking hands with Rauol Castro, long time enemy of the USA and authoritarian dictator of a gulag nation,
a perfunctory returned salute would be seen as more or less harmless. Guess I underestimated the left once again.

Your post shows how clueless you are when it comes to Trump. Did you see the video? That was a salute. The thing you have on your side is......so what. Means nothing.....just like with Obama.

This is another thread also trying to force people to subscribe to see the linked article. In my opinion such OPs that really are about marking a newspaper should not be allowed. NO, I did not see the video because I am not willing to pay the Democrat Washington Post to see it.

No, he's saluting. It was clearly an instinctual reaction.

Not gonna slam the man too hard on it, but a President needs to be a little quicker on his feet.
