However, this is the UNITED STATES. We are a republic, not a democracy. And only the states can vote for president, and the vote total goes to the state representation. Trump won the vote, 306 to 232. End of story. She could have beaten Bernie, even if Bernie got more votes by the same type of system.

And, the Senate is also elected the same way as the president. TO win a senate seat in Wyoming take 200,000 votes, in California 2,000,000, but they both end up with the same power. It is a brilliant system that keeps small states with power and big states with power. No one state can really rule the nation. Smart smart smart.

I know how it works. I have never disputed that donald was selected by the EC. The president represents the people, all Americans. He is the only elected official that is in that position. The fact that America is a Republic doesn't require that millions of votes be effectively nullified because of the EC system, as another member noted.

But the issue was whether this was a "landslide" victory. And sorry, when the almost three million more people voted for the other candidate, that in no reasonable measure can be called a landslide victory IMO.

 

As I've stated in numerous posts now because you guys keep repeating the same thing over and over, I have not and do not dispute that donald was selected by the EC. The issue is whether it was a "landslide" victory, and IMO, an election where donald received about 3 million fewer votes than Clinton is in no reasonable interpretation a "landslide" victory.

Remember that they are released according to the popular vote in their state, their job is to vote the will of the people, we use them in case of an extreme emergency which Trump certainly is not.
