The best way to not have peeps mention the popular vote is presumably to not deflect to Hillary ever time the topic of Trump comes up but trumpkins don't seem to be capable of such simple behaviours. The US isn't a democracy, it's a Constitutional Republic with democratic institutions. No US President has been elected to the office by popular vote, but by the electoral college. Every man or woman who has ever ran for President has known that.

 

The system worked the people voted, wanted Trump and the numbers in the EC where the States decided how to dispense their EC votes and almost all use Winner Takes All so the fight isn't Federal dummies its State level if the split the EC votes Hillary might have won. Don't blame the system at the Constitutional level then. And Trump is an incumbent next time around and the Democrats have no one who could win. Hillary failed and I won't vote for a woman unless she is amazing and Sanders is too old. Plus with the Legislature under GOP control they can't do crap unless that changes.

And Trump isn't that bad he is tackling the trade issues and immigration and I think he had the right idea I would toss out the children back their home nations minors can't ask for Asylum on their own they don't have legal rights and their parents are criminals so send the children back home and the families should get the chance to go with them or stay. That would be a good way to do it. Screw what other countries think unless they are man enough to invade us to force us we won't have to worry there who would dare? So its time we grab the enemies by the balls and tell them to bugger off. Or bring it but we never lost a defensive war.

The EC has nothing to do with our being a Republic. A Republic is where you elect representatives to act in whatever they think are their Constituent's best interests. The Electors in the EC are bound very strongly by tradition to vote as the popular vote in their districts tells them to. They might very easily be replaced by machines.

Hillary may have very well been the wrong candidate but Trump has proven the be the wrong human being, in that I scarcely credit to give him even that.

Do you have any Democratic candidates like McMullen? I do realize that as an independent he might turn Democrat and I think he will deserve a lot of attention if he does that but I think the Republicans have guaranteed their demise as a relevant party for the next Century if not longer at this point.
