Welcome to America. I live on the Outer Banks in N.C. and it used to be a paradise. Now the ocean is still there but the nice places are all for the rich. When I say rich I mean 500k houses. That may be modest for some but here you can get a 2500 sf house on the sound with access to the gulf stream for 500k.

That, sadly, is out of reach for people making 100k and under, and it is sad.

It reminds me of a movie rant. If you are in the mood to think critically, listen.

I used to go to S or work often. As I saw it become increasingly trendy and expensive, I saw more homeless people. This is typical gentrification. Rich liberals moved there, the cost of living increased, low-income neighborhoods disappeared, and their residents became homeless. SF became a victim o its own success.

The same leftists that want to control every aspect of other peoples lives just can't seem to keep the heroin needles and fecal snow (atomized feces dust with hepatitis) of the streets.

I don't think the democrat liberal has any relationship to wisdom, and I have stated that countless times.

Yet it is wise and intelligent to provide clean, new needles for drug addicts, if for nothing more as a way to protect the public health of other needle users. That these scumbags will discard their needles on the streets is highly hateful and irresponsible behavior and should warrant a long prison sentence if caught doing it. Hell, I would ever try to get finger prints off of those syringes and go after these people legally, in order to try to minimize it as much as possible.

Defunding state run mental facilities, where we kept these people off the streets...how, who, and why did this happen? What brilliant politicians were involved in this?

And then what about the non mentally ill homeless? Why are they homeless, living on the streets and why have we as a society not demanded that these people be given shelter and helped, so as to not have them on the streets in the first place. I never knew of a single homeless person here in my area, the South, until the 1980s. So what changed? Something did, and there is a primary cause here, with other causes involved. Until someone lays this down, factually, nothing will be done to address this issue, and what is done, will be fruitless unless you know the actual causes so they can be logically addressed using intelligence.

I have little doubt that both liberals and conservatives are guilty, and not just democrats nor liberals. Is the only way a con would address such problems as being homeless is to just send them to prison? I have seen no intelligent driven fixes, realistic coming from the cons in the GOP, have you? They would rather just blame democrats and liberalism, and use it for political reasons. This seems to be the reality in which all of us live. No?

Because elitist gentrification is a "good thing".

It's expensive to live AWAY from the sh**/needle covered streets...wonderful.

There are parts of San Francisco that look like something out of Mad Max.

Can the apes just take it over please. At least then they will fling the poo at each other and we can watch in entertainment again. I wonder when they will incorporate this part of SF into Fuller house?

Thanks for the ground research although some of us who disagree with ground research dismiss it out of hand as anecdotal, and therefore completely invalid. I do not agree.

I have read as much, what you said, and figure it is one part of the problem in these areas. And it comes with changes in the US economic model, neoliberalism, as some have called it.

Fact is, we do live in a cause effect universe, although some for political, ideological reason talk as if we do not. Problems, all problems happen in a cause effect universe. If you ever want to solve such problems, this has to be taken into account and given great relevance. Then the facts of those causes must be addressed if a solution is desired, and it is self evident that no one really want a solution, for various reasons, with a couple of them being ideologically limited, and spending tax dollars on the solution.

I think I could solve it, by just using basic common sense, and not being ideologically driven when it comes to solutions. Or at least minimize it tremendously. I think any clear thinker, which means one is not ruled over mentally by ideological beliefs but is a pragmatist could solve it. If fact, I strongly believe this.

Not wise to import 1/3 of the nations welfare cases, as well as 1/4 of the nations homeless.

    I don't give a **** about intent, I care about outcomes.

The outcome is now San Francisco teachers have to teach children to avoid feces and heroin needles.

And what is this fairy tale about going after the people who leave those needles out?

The city does not want to prosecute, it only recognizes the problem because it must.

To change direction would mean lefty dogma is wrong, and that can't be the case can it?

This state is essentially unilaterally run by DEMOCRATS.

    DEMOCRATS cut funding

    DEMOCRATS made this mess

    and DEMOCRATS can't fix it.

So people have to breathe feces dust +/- hepatitis.

Reagan was a hardcore Repub that preached against SS.

His claim to fame was out-spending the Russians. That ballooned our debt, but Republicans don't care about debt when a white person is President.

I can remember what the Outer Banks looked like in the 70s and sadly overdevelopment has ruined much of the charm it once had.

Silicon Valley is what happened to San Francisco. A workforce with huge deep pockets who drove housing costs sky high for everyone but themselves.

They even have an app on your phone for tracking where the Pooh is and how to avoid it if you're walking. If you are using the app and you see a poo you upload it

San Francisco is a lot like New York. A small and rich group of elites and an impoverished underclass living in the same area as wage slaves. A very old book commands this arrangement.

Interesting that you use this to take a cheap shot at the right. California is the Democrats petri dish and in spite of having the highest taxes, we are the poverty capitol of the US. Middle class is shrinking and our roads are crumbling. But, your view of SF from your hotel was probably great. I will tell all the homeless people "Hey, just look at our GDP!!!"

Or when our existential enemy was finally gotten rid of. The threat of a mushroom cloud on the horizon seemed much more important to people than our debt situation, which was really very manageable at that point, white president or not.
I remember the fall out shelters, nuclear attack drills in grade school and the omni-present fear of the Soviets. It sounds like you don't.

And now (after voting to raise taxes), they are leaving the state, to ruin others.

    Leftism in action.
