I own guns and have always supported the 2nd amendment. However mass shootings have become so prevalent that we are starting to become numb to them.

You hear the same thing. Leftist say ban all guns and right wingers say it’s not the guns fault. Honestly both side are wrong. There needs to be a nice middle ground.

You can have reasonable gun control and guns. Lots of countries do it

What do you think we should do? Be specific.

I think if legitimately every murder in the country got days of runtime over all networks you'd get numb to murders too.

No. The idea that it's the fault of an inanimate object is not reasonable in the least. There can be no middle ground. There can't be.

If contraband laws worked there would be no war on drugs.

This is a complex issue that requires us to be honest with ourselves. "Duh blame Dem guns" is an attempt to put off what needs to be done.

Except you can find anywhere in the world with low gun deaths and lax gun laws

How much gun control do you need?

Until we have comparable gun death rates to other developed countries. Not 25 times higher

We need to mandate that all guns have bells on them so people are warned & can duck or shoot back as needed.

Given the nature of the gun culture these days, seven different brands of bells that 'ring' at wavelengths outside average human auditory detection ranges would be available online before the legislation made it through congress.

I suppose it's a bit like experiencing war. You get numb to the horrors. People can adapt to most anything.

Yep. The problem I see in this debate is like with the health care debate, where again, stubborn conservatives jump to some silly extreme straw man argument and won't discuss perfectly reasonable legislative options. It's also obviously connected to the growing red-blue divide, where pretty much every issue is given this treatment.

It is unfortunate. But many on the pro gun side see any compromise as tyranny. It just shuts down any reasonable discussion

The only way to become numb to mass shootings is if you're keeping up with California news - because most shootings happen in California.

Our gun death rate is comparable to Canada's, relative to population density.

Think about it, how many give a damn how many die in chiraq or any of the other ghettos across the U.S.? The only time it's addressed is when it all at once and predominantly white suburbia. Replace that with predominantly black pockets and 500 of death in a one year period and the press doesn't give it a minute of air time..

The difference, one fits the agenda and the other doesn't :)

There have been several mass shootings in the UK, so even the most restrictive laws will not stop all mass shootings.
To phrase it in one perspective, the question is what level of mass shootings are tolerable?
