They might be able to impeach, but they'll never get a conviction in the Senate.

It doesn't really matter that you do not like the fact perjury is not an impeachable offense.

What does impeachment have to do with a tax cut?

It will be in a way like the GOP House on the impeachment of Bill Clinton. There's no way the democrats can gain two thirds of the senate in a guilty vote on whatever charges the house passes. That is 67 senators voting guilty on either one. Like Bill Clinton's impeachment, it will be a huge waste of time, energy and money. This time not by Republicans, but Democrats.

For impeachment to work a good size majority of Americans must be for it. It took two years, but a majority of Americans were in favor of Nixon's impeachment back in 1974. This brought approximate half of the Republican senators on board, although the GOP was at that time in the minority and only had 42 senators instead of the 53 they have today with the Democrats in the minority. You don't have a big majority wanting to impeach either one, Trump or Kavanaugh. It could also backfire on the democrats if they go ahead with it causing them to lose seats in the house in 2020 and actually boost Trump's reelection prospects. Especially if independents which now compromise approximately 42% of the total electorate see impeachment as being purely politically motivated. Which would be the case today.

So funny watching the right wing scream "impeachment" when the Dems are doing nothing of the sort.

What does his behavior have to do with losing democracy? That makes no sense to me.

The vote in the Senate is limited to whether to remove or not. With Clinton it was not a matter if he committed felonies in a federal court and a federal grand jury, that was indisputable, it was whether he should be removed from office. He should have resigned in the first place and since he didn't he should gave been voted out but the Democrats said committing felonies in that federal court and grand jury didn't warrant removal.
Who has presented evidence Trump committed a felony?

A majority of Americans didn't want Bill Removed. Impeachment and the senate trial are political actions, not judicial as the jury isn't one of one's peers, but other senators with stales the game. In Bill's case, Democrats wanted to preserve him as president, Republicans wanted him ousted. It was all political motivated.

Republicans view is that Bill Clinton did commit felonies, Democrats said no. In a political sense, the senate had to decide if what Bill did, said, met the standard of high crimes. republicans vote Aye, Democrats, Nay.

With Trump and Kavanaugh it is also a political game. I can't remember the congressman, but a few years back he was asked what is a crime or misdemeanor that constitute a case for impeachment. The answer was whatever the house says it is. That's true even if it sounds absurd. He probably should have said whatever the majority party says it is. Which is again purely political.

Impeachment is a political not criminal trial.

The people did not want Clinton impeached.

As of this moment, the people don't want Trump impeached.

    Exactly.

Committees and subpoenas get Trump twisting in the wind quite nicely.

Quite to the contrary; I think it would encourage those republicans who are afraid to go against Trump to support the impeachment if enough evidence could be produced to convince a majority of Americans that Trump is a congenital liar, has violated the law and other statues. A convenient excuse to impeach him even though it most likely wouldn't make it through the senate.

Comey exposed: used personal, un-secured Gmail account for official business so sensitive that the emails cannot be released to the public

We now know that if James Comey had recommended prosecution of Hillary Clinton for her email abuses, he would have been cooking his own goose
