Also noticeable is the high gender selectivity in the internal migration streams : While in the years 1991 to 2006, 50.5 % of east-west-migrants were female, their share was only 45.0 % in the counterflow. Your article shows that i´m right. Thüringen ist not peripheral but absolute center of Germany, yet is in eastern germany and we even have more women here than men. Simply because many men work under the week in Hessen and bavaria and come back at weekend.
