    What hypocrisy? The typo?

Even if the wall kept out all but the able bodies that could climb a 25ft ladder....

You allegedly support your beloved BLOTUS but won't put a dime of your own money into helping achieve his signature goal that you believe with make America "safer".

You should really read the thread before inserting your foot into your mouth. As I have already stated, I already put enough money into our Government to pay for a wall. My dimes are already there. Please educate yourself before popping off like an adolescent.

Puerile ad homs ignored for derogatory reasons.

The OP topic is about INDEPENDENT funding for your beloved BLOTUS's wall. That you are NOT willing to fund it says volumes.

I can't speak for the OP, but I'm a broke ass, medically unemployed (and all but unemployable for the same reason) person, and I donated a couple of hundred. May do more over the upcoming days/weeks as I get a grip on my overall financial picture. It's a cause I believe in. Enforce the borders. We don't need more uneducated, unskilled, destitute people who can't even take care of themselves on US soil.

    Why haven't you?

Hey, did you actually contribute to the GoFundMe page for the wall?

My guess is though that you are one of those "don't tax me bro" types, who thinks that the government screws everything up it touches. I wonder why you think that the government is not going to screw up the border wall actually?

Thanks to Obamacare you are NOT facing medical caused bankruptcy and do have that couple of hundred to waste.

I am NOT the OP and I see the entire "wall" boondoggle for exactly what it is. Just another of your beloved BLOTUS's SCAMS to ripoff taxpayers while he enriches himself.

I am not stupid enough to fall for your beloved BLOTUS's patently obvious lies and there is nothing that will convince me to ever put a cent into any of his con games.

$17,184,544 from 282,747 donors in 9 days is about $2 million a day from about 32 thousand people giving $60 each. Evidently there is support for this. It appears to be stable, the fund’s rate of growth seems constant during the past 5 days with the average donation and number of donors.

The critical left has to appreciate this isn’t some concocted astroturfing effort by some deranged deplorable businessman, that there is a significant constituency genuinely concerned and willing to donate $60 to have a wall built. Maybe it would take years to achieve their goal and it could be legally impossible, but 30 thousand people sending $60 every day is important, especially if they’re profiled as impoverished and deplorable trailer trash.

Consider strong motivating critical lefty issues (MeToo, Global Warming, the plight of Palestinians, open borders, subsidized abortions...) which of these animates much wealthier and well-educated liberals by the tens of thousands to daily contribute even a fraction of what the deplorables have?

The Government get enough of my money to spend $7 million dollars a minute 24/7. There's more than enough to fund the wall. Especially so with the Government shut down. Even if we save only $1.5 million a minute it will only take a 2 week shut down to save $35 billion for the wall. Since there's no dedicated budget the money can be moved around like Obama did for Obama Care.

They do screw up everything they touch, but it's hard to screw up planting pre-fab concrete slabs along the border........

That's pretty hard to screw up I'll give them that much.

We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved. Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values.

And even though at a rate of $1.7 million daily, it would take their fund about 35 years to raise the $21.7 billion that Trump's own Dept. of Homeland Security says would be needed to build said wall, we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them.

If this seems ludicrous, we welcome you to the coalition of reasonable adults.

Should we not reach our goal--or should they (ahem) not reach theirs--all funds raised will go to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) , a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.

You see, they’ll never reach their goal, but no matter how much we raise, we’re going to reach ours:

Supporting an organization working to help immigrants seeking legal asylum. This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up.

This idea is the original brainchild of @HoarseWisperer on Twitter.

Questions? Concerns? Misspelled remarks full of racist vitriol you'd like to pass along? Find me at @cmclymer .

Also: kudos to @NancyLevine and other advocates who have set up similar satirical fundraising for RAICES at https://gofundthewall.net

It is all up to you and the remaining minority of Americans who want that wall to fund its construction and maintenance. I don't see why the rest of us should be burdened with it.

Wouldn't it be nice if our tax money was only used on the projects we approve of. I don't think I should be burdened with paying welfare to lazy bums who could work but won't, or irresponsible folks who decided to start families before they could afford it, or anchor babies and their families. The government can use my tax money on infrastructure, the military, and border security instead.

Most welfare recipients are not lazy bums. Any amount going to such people is minimal (far less than MAGA's useless wall would cost), and such people are abusing the system anyway, just like MAGA's useless wall would be abused by all of the people who would go right over, under, around or through it anyway. Furthermore, the imagined welfare cheats you love to rant about are not connected to the imagined hordes of illegal immigrants you love to rant about, unless it's only those who happen to meet both criteria. This would be a truly minuscule number.

Rest assured that infrastructure, military and existing border security are already getting more of your money than any welfare recipients who don't live up to your personal standards for how they should live their lives.

BS. We the funding that was just approved included far more than the cost of the border wall JUST to SNAP.

70 Billion for SNAP. 20 Billion for the wall.
