"White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday sought to clarify President Trump’s statement that he “didn’t have to” declare a national emergency at the border, but did so to speed up construction of his long-promised wall."

"“I could do the wall over a long period of time. I didn’t need to do this, but I’d rather do it much faster,” Trump conceded."

    https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...e-seeks-to-clarify-trump-remarks-on-emergency

Appears Trump blew it in his own proclamation, "didn't have to" and "didn't need to do this" are going to be the central theme of every lawsuit stemming from his "emergency." Tough to defend something as an "emergency" when you preface it with "didn't have to" and "didn't need to do this." Even beer belly Brett is going to struggle rationalizing that one

Trump's advisers much live in fear every time he drifts away from the teleprompter

Trump seems to want another recession on top of the recession he created last last year.

    Wotta guy.

Is this going to be another case where he forgot to say "not" like with Putin?

Seemingly, but saying you "didn't have to" and "didn't need to do this" when declaring an emergency ain't helping your cause

    Probably.

Puppet Master Vlad called Lil' Donnie and told him to clarify his statement.

This is why I don't necessarily support impeachment. He's too incompetent and impotent to be actually abuse his authority despite his own efforts. No person or institution respects or fears him enough to be coerced for long. What his internal enemies don't do to undermine him, his own missteps do. He's a soft phallus and his nasty wishes just don't really penetrate like Nixon's did. That Quaker really could rape the constitution,

Why would anybody support impeachment (with Zero Chance of Senate Conviction)?

And that's the other convincing argument against. They do so because they want to embarrass him and his party while securing support from the democratic party base. I am with Pelosi.

    Exactly.

At this point you would need all the Dems and 20 GOP.

    I don't see that happening.

True, but going into an election, there are those that see televised public impeachment hearings as a way to uncover for everyone to see potential Trump conflicts between his office and his businesses, not to mention airing out the Russian questions

Wouldn't recommend such, but I can see it happening, the Senate vote wouldn't be the desired product

You guys are just upset because we are getting the wall and your precious illegals won't be able to come in anymore.

Trump doesn't need to clarify anything, just build the damn wall.

Just getting to the lawsuit phase - not the building phase.

That's just a procedural thing and will be fast tracked.

Trump already knows how the Court will rule and by summertime we will be in full swing of constructing the wall.

Better tell those caravans to pick up the pace.

The campaign promise was to have Mexico pay for the wall.

It’s cute how they leave that out while shutting down the government and robbing more from the taxpayers. Who knew pandering to stupid people was so easy?

The majority of illegals fly into the country, most of the rest enter at checkpoints. How many will a wall stop?

Then you shouldn't have any problem with building it since your friends come in other ways.

I am a bigger advocate for immigration reform than any of you neocons are or will ever be. That you wanna blow billions of dollars for a physical barrier that only diverts flow at best of less than 1/5 of the yearly influx shows how far the fiscal responsibility aspect of conservatism has been abandoned.

Not to mention the land that must be stolen from Americans and the environmental concerns, but I know neither of those things exist in your egocentric world.

The mistake is that you think that is our only solution when in fact it is just a small part of it.

Trump has explained all of this but not surprisingly you didn't listen.

    Nonsense.

It's very true this Emergency could have been addressed by Congress, and if the New Democratic Party cared about our National Security, such a move would not have been called for. But the NDP is more interested in pandering and telling really amazing lies, so the President had to take action.

Allowing the conditions on the border to continue is a danger to the country.

Probably true but considering democratic intransigence for border protection if he didn't, it would never happen.

The wall has nothing to do with stopping illegal immigrants. It’s Trump’s way to build a monument to himself.
