    I guess they are creating films for their paying audience. I have no idea who that audience is however.

    Hollywood and television are two totally different entities. Hollywood is movies for the theater. Television is a different .....system so to speak. Different ways of getting things done. Different movers and shakers. Television is more in tune with audiences because shows can die from bad ratings after one episode.

    Hollywood movies often can end up as bloviated "art" and if popular with the regular American may be seen as "low brow".

    Find me a movie that you think is as good as Memento. I would be ecstatic to watch a movie of that standard. I am dead serious. I WANT TO WATCH A GOOD MOVIE. So please make some suggestions and I may check them out.
