They can't grasp that in order to get everyone to participate in this model, there must be universally applied social pressure (in this case, to conform to a lifetime commitment to working for the good of society).

Again, it's infantile fantasy. They want the benefits of such rigorous homogeneity and conformity, without having to live with homogeneity or conformity.

You can't be serious. Ever been to Asia? There is more fat/salt/sugar laden food cheaply available in the average city street than you guys have in entire cities. Yet they're not fat, and they remain industrious.

    Maybe they're grown ups.

Yes, we clearly have different definitions of capitalism given that you think the IMF is a capitalist institution and I don't.

I'm not going to defend the IMF.

Rice, beans, and vegetables in season are ALWAYS cheaper (by far) than fast food.

I would agree that it seems like a biological necessity.

Show me an American who is forced to eat fast food, and who is forcing them. Show me an American who can't buy bulk brown rice and dried beans and explain why they can't.

It's a law of nature, yes. Don't 'hunt', don't eat.

It was much closer to it than what we have today. EVERYONE participated, and there was more sharing of local resources.

It also seems clear that a skilled welder is not going to agree to perform his services for the same price as someone who is only capable of sweeping floors.

requiring Labor under Capitalism is a form of (wage) slavery that negatively impacts the Poor by depressing wages.

Already did in many different threads on that topic. Including one I opened myself. Do a search. I particularly liked the one in which I showed why I am an example of white privilege that justifies affirmative action.

I claim that rice and beans are ALWAYS cheaper (by far) than fast food. If people are choosing to spend more money than they need to on food, then they are NOT poor. You cannot dispute or debate that. Fast food is a luxury item. The genuinely poor would never waste a cent on it.

requiring labor for SURVIVAL is an essential truth of existence. it's when you try to subvert that truth, that you end up with a master/slave scenario.

what are you talking about? we can simply compensate Labor for Capitalism's not Labor's, natural rate of unemployment in a market friendly manner in our at-will employment States.

He is if he's volunteered for collective living. Voluntary is the operative word, always.

I'm saying that when you require workers to fund non-workers, you are engaging in master/slave capitalism.

The ONLY non-workers that Socialism can fund, is the small percentage of any collective either too young or too old to work (and/or temporarily when someone is ill).

Or a religious cult. Or a hippie commune. Or a multigenerational cohabiting family :)

Capital must circulate under Capitalism, not Labor.

Labor must circulate under Laborism, not Capital.

Exactly. You can only be born with white privilege if you are white.

Absolutely. I'll be sure to let my aristocratic Nigerian doctor friends know that.

No idea what this is supposed to mean. Is it a fancy way of saying "give me free stuff"?
