Yeah... they just pay their way to get a better education than poor people.

 

But there are also extremely gifted students from poor families. Must these gifted students be held back by integrating them with mediocre students?

In my country, our selective public high schools (academic merit is the only means of entry ... via exam) are 95% NOT white. And it's the same at all selective high schools, across the nation. Institutional racism?

 

NO. It's been 'affecting white people' in my country for decades. No one cares. If parents want their white kids to go to such schools, they do the work needed to ensure it happens. They don't sit at home and cry.

 

Who says the standard gets, lowered, by admitting more darkskinned humans? I'd bet, the standard increases, once they are added. I'd bet, Race has everything to do with their current, peculiar exclusion, as Racism's powerful people have abandoned Blacks.

Other minority groups used Blacks for their 60's Civil Rights' successes and now, Blacks have been abandoned. These 2 schools are but a microcosm of that.

 

Your reply doesn't make sense. They'd have to lower the standard test score requirements to allow in the blacks who obviously don't score high enough to get in (and obviously many whites also since it's majority Asian). That is the definition of lowering the standard. The school is for higher achievers, not lower achievers in the name of diversity.

 

I am sure all those good Democrat families are not thinking about that.

Once you start making exceptions, it is no longer an exceptional school. As for what you wrote, there is affirmative action, but Stuyvesant is not encumbered by quotas. No one can tell race from the answer sheet. It's may the best PERSON win, not the best race.

Stuyvesant was begun in 1904 and started the mandatory entrance exam in 1934 so it's been around a LONG time.

LIFE is pretty much all tests. And yes, entry to selective high schools is strictly via testing .. just as it should be. Unless you live in a different universe, where time and resources are unlimited and everyone is immortal. Then perhaps you can carefully comb through every applicants life history for 'reasons' to accept or reject. Good luck.

What do you mean by 'pay'? These parents literally sit down with their children every night to make sure work is done to a good standard, sometimes for hours. INSTEAD of watching tv, or drinking beer. Irregardless of how much money they have or don't have. Is that the 'payment' you refer to?

 

"bought" a place at a PUBLIC school? well done.

 

That is not the aim, nor should it ever be. The aim should always be to produce the best doctor/engineer/dentist/accountant/nurse/teacher etc.

 

Why on earth would it do that? You want to also make exceptions for people who can hold a tune? How about people who bake a mean chocolate cake?

Certain mammals, when given unrestricted access to food, will literally eat themselves to death. Horses, for example. Your quintessential prey animal .. whose access to food is decided by the presence or absence (and therefore the will) of predators. I think this tells us a great deal about the pathology of the human condition. Because we walk that fine line between being predator and being prey, we can literally choose either. I suspect that many see the prey option as the path of least resistance.

 

Ours went to selective public school, also. Didn't cost a cent to get them up to speed for the entry exams. All it takes is constant and focused work, and that's freely available to even the poorest family. Also, our kids are black

 

they bought their admission in other schools as well with bribes, cheating their scores and everything, Einstein.
