I think Trump clearly was a smart guy at one point. I think he's clearly not a smart guy now, as what I quoted shows (along with other stuff like "stable genius").

And I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out he's mortgaged to the hilt. People thought Bernie Madoff was quite the successful guy. Until serious people began asking serious questions.

Trump told a Michigan crowd he.would "close the damn border next week" if Mexico did not do more to stem illegal immigration.

Sealing the entire border between the countries would cause economic chaos. In 2017, about $558 billion in goods flowed across the U.S.- Mexico border in both directions, making Mexico our third-biggest trading partner for goods behind Canada and China. U.S. goods exported to Mexico totaled $243.3 billion, while trade in services accounted for another $58 billion.

All Trump can do is close the ports of entry. This would shut down all legal traffic including the billions in trade between the U.S. and Mexico and thousands of American jobs would be impacted.

It would not stop illegal trafic that enters the U.S. by other means. Illegal traffic does not use legal ports of entry.

In theory, the Republicans are the party of free trade. In practice, it doesn't always work out that way.

I will grant you that. I am a card carrying Republican according to the state of California.

This isn't about Republicans vs. Democrats. This is about Trump supporters as the title suggests. They are not true Republicans. They are too liberal.

Trump Republicans endorse Trump's liberal protectionist tariffs. Liberals always want to change the meaning of the Constitution. Trump wants to change the meaning of the Constitution by usurping Congress's power of the purse, and Trump Republicans support that liberal concept.

Trump wants to shut down our border which would cause economic chaos. Only a liberal would think of doing something that stupid. The liberal crowd at Trump's rally in Michigan cheered madly when Trump announced that closure.

Sure it is. Most republicans support Trump, even if they did not vote for him. The claim was that the people that supported Trump were of lesser intelligence. That is simply not true. I did not vote for Trump, but I still support him because in spite of all his faults, he has the right ideas.

Funny part is, as usual, the one attributed to Hillary is a lie. She never said it. It's amazing how often a Trump supporter posts a link or something like this on almost anything....a quick fact check later....oops...fake news. Whereas you can go on youtube and instantly hear Trump say he loves the poorly educated and his supporters cheer.

Trump loves to shut down things. He "proudly" shut down the government, causing the longest government shutdown in our history. He is threatening to shut down the border this week. And he has shut down all financial aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvadore, making the Central American caravans even more of a threat to our southern border.

Who is saying this? Well, the Trump administration, of course. McAleenan and Kirstjen Nielson, the head of DHS, work for Trump. Trump is a prolific liar. Even his fans admit that. At a rally, nearly every other sentence is a lie, particular if he is talking about Democrats or the Mueller Report. He will eyeball a reporter directly and lie. Trump is proud of his talent for lying. He has even given it a name. He calls it truthful hyperbole.

Just how intelligent is it for a President to have the reputation of a creative liar? Why in the world should we be believe the statistics given out the border patrol or the DHS? Did they close facilities down to make the remaining facilities overburdened. The current statistics are very convenient to Trump's arguments. That always makes an informed observer suspicious. Why should we believe anything put out by the Trump administration? Trump is a liar and proud of it.

Which, of course, brings us to Trump's wall, and the Constitution crisis Trump has created by his attempt to usurp the powers of Congress.

A White House whistleblower told lawmakers that more than two dozen denials for security clearances have been overturned by Trump. Among those denied a security clearance by intelligence officials, but granted one by Trump is his daughter and son-in-law.

Putin is enormously pleased with his pupil. Chaos abounds within the American government.

If Mexico thinks it can create economic and criminal chaos in the US by fast-tracking hundreds of thousands of unvetted people into our country each year, they can go choke on an avocado.

 

We're smart enough to know that a million people unlawfully flooding across our border every year is far worse.
