Speaking of wages, do waitresses get paid a fair wage?

Yup, that and counter service are the future, at least for lower end restaurants.

Whose attitude? Do you realize what you are condoning is a misdemeanor punishable by fine and jail sentence in some jurisdiction? It is a violation of the state health code that can result in the closure of a restaurant. Why do you sound so angry?

LOL...You think bad crap don't happen to your food when you treat wait staff like garbage?

Ya ever think that poor service you decry might be caused by YOU?

I tip well. I treat wait staff like people. I get great service

So having a person take your order for drink and food and bring it to you is them feeding off of whatever you have in your wallet? When did providing a service for someone and expecting to get paid for that service become “feeding off of that persons wallet?
Here’s a thought...if you don’t want to pay for service at a restaurant then don’t go to restaurants. You’re welcome.

if they do not make over the min wage average, a business has to pay them a min wage, most do make more then that though

After the tips are totaled and divided up it is pretty good according to people working at Waffle House and Cracker Barrel, but amounts are proprietary and not to be spoken of. imo they well earn whatever it is.

That you condone such an action say much about your character.

I have to disagree with you here. It is the owners' responsibility to make sure they pay their staff well, not the customers. That the NRA been able to get away with getting Congress to approved a lousy 2-3 bucks and expect us to make up the rest is asinine. In CA, waitstaff in some areas get the full 15 an hour mandated by the state/local municipality and the restaurants still thrives. Their tips are true bonus, not an expected wage.

Are you saying waitstaff are a bunch of unprofessionals with no pride who won't do their job unless they are bribed to do so?

how bout those establishments that have 'suggested' tip levels right on the receipt with the actuall dollar amount that 'should' be tipped... they do that as intimidation but i refuse to comply in those situations and i tell the staff "you did a wonderful job & i thank you for your great service, however, your boss is an a**hole, you'll have to get your tip from him/her, have a great day"

The point of course being that in the US we know the social contract is that we tip the waitress/waiter for their service. If you don't want to tip waitresses/waiters for the service they provide you then don't go to restaurants.

So basically you're cheap and will look for any excuse to cheap out and not pay wait staff.

I do tip, but when enough is enough? 25% tip on a meal is extortion. Let me put it this way....whether I go to the Sizzler or the Outback Steakhouse the service should be the same. Yet waitstaff there makes much more in tip doing the same job the people at Sizzler is doing due to price differences. Sorry but makes absolutely zero sense.

Who said you had to pay 25%? I believe 15-20% is the "norm".

So you "appreciate" their service so much that you stiff them. What a conservative you are

    Lately I see....18% 20% 25%

Who the hell made up these ridiculous figures? Like I said, pay the actual minimum wage so tips can be a true bonus.

What is untrue about what I've said. You like them put the blame all in the wrong place and you refused to admit so. Instead, you've advocated spitting in people's food so excuse me if I pay no attention to your "outrage."

What do you mean you see 18% 20% 25%? Where are you seeing this? And if you are seeing it, so what? The fact that you think 18% and 20% is ridiculous is...well...ridiculous.

Again, the current system, with very few exceptions, is that we tip waiters/waitresses for the service they provide us. If you don't want to tip, then go to McDonald's when you go out to eat.

I see those figures on my meals receipt!

Again why shouldn't it be the owners responsibility to make his waitstaff whole?? Nowhere but the damn restaurant industry can an owner pay his employees 2 bucks an hour an get away with it. It's odd that you guys lay blame on the customers instead.
