I don't think this is how the leftists at MSNBC probably thought this poll would go..... (This is leftist MSNBC after all.)

It's pretty well known on here that I don't put much stock in polls, but this one sort of made me giggle when I saw who was doing the poll and the results.

"Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public"

As of now (5:28 in Florida) the results are:

"Yes! The Second Amendment guarantees it." 530K votes / 93%
    "No, it's too dangerous." 22K votes / 4%
"Only for self defense." 21K votes / 4%

The "only for self defense" choice is a little strange. Do they mean, you can carry it for self defense, but not for what? Not for murder? Not to look tough? Not for hunting?

It wasn't 5:28 in all of Florida when you posted this. It was 5:28 in Eastern Time. Most of the Panhandle is in Central time.

That said, it seems pretty conclusive at the time of your post. At the time of my post, it was 537K/93% for Yes! (I'm posting at 4:53 Central time)

No! The 2nd Amendment doesn’t guarantee the right to carry a firearm in public.

The notion is downright silly. In Heller that is one of the things cited that presumably lawfully could be regulated.

It’s not as if Antonio Scalia was a lefty.

We’ve succumbed to the extreme over the past decades and now repeating the “rewards”: dead Americans daily.

A 4 and 8 year old yesterday because many gun owners support the sale of firearms to the irresponsible and terminally stupid.

Sad you criticized leftists and then posted a link that doesn't say anything about the poll.

Because this MSNBC poll will be determining federal policy in some way?

The question(s) are too vague to be taken seriously... so I won't

I support both open and concealed carry, but I gotta say, I'm beyond surprised by the results... seems too good to be true.

Very bad question. You can for instance interpret the word people as " every person" or " some people" or " law abiding people" or " law abiding people over 18. And of course " carry is equally meaningless. Could be concealed carry, could be open carry. Etc,etc.

It's an MSNBC poll, I'm sure it was dumbed down for their audience.

Is the link not working for you? It works for me ---- it takes me directly to the poll. Either way, I shared the poll question and results in my original post, so if the link doesn't work for you, you could just reply to the post instead.

Well it is clear from the poll that gun advocates are the majority of the audience so the poll was probably dumbed down.

Yes it does, which is why it says 'bear' arms.

Both are legal in my state, thank goodness. It is legal to carry an 'assault weapon' into a legislative hearing room in Santa Fe.

MSNBC Poll: Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public

Come to AZ and the poll will easily be answered. Not only do many carry, but conceal carry. Research places firearms in about 1/3 of AZ vehicles at any given time. I carry in my vehicle at all times. My wife carries in her purse at all times. Nearly 40 years of living in AZ and I've only had to use my firearm one time. That was on a trail in the Superstition Mountains in which a coiled rattlesnake was too close for comfort.

The sample size more than makes up for the vagueness of the question. You could add the 4% "only in self defense" to the 93% since that is the only reason people would carry.

Are the anti second amendment crowd underrepresented in online polls? Maybe.

It obviously depends on who is carrying. But there's no way to regulate every odd ball.
    Some miscreants can qualify.

I think you're ignoring the answer. They didn't just vote 'Yes', they voted 'Yes- the 2A guarantees it.' Whether they mean all people, all law-abiders or all law-abiders over 18 isn't really meaningful to the discussion. Whether they mean concealed or open isn't either. Whichever way you want to take it, 93% of those polled believe most americans have a constitutional right to bear arms in public.

"The right to keep and BEAR arms shall not be infringed"

Are you educated enough to understand this sentence?

That "Poll" is a Total JOKE.

    ANYBODY can "create a poll".:roflol:

It looks like a bunch of RW Breitbart/Twitter Trolls are gaming the vote by casting Multiple Votes.

Here is the RW Jackhammering the Refresh Button to Game the vote:

To be fair, the topic title is obtrusive. All people? Anyone? Escaped convicts should be able to carry in public?

Recognizing that lives are not worth adjustment in the 2A to many, some who will insist that "opens the door to "No guns for anyone" (which is absurd),

"They want to take away all our guns!" Is a ridiculous argument that is right up there with the earth is flat. The goal is less guns available for the crazies and most people who give a **** about other people are OK with some changes.
