New York Times: Leaked videos show SEALs describing Gallagher's conduct

Members of SEAL Team 7 Alpha Platoon described their platoon leader, retired Special Operations Chief Eddie Gallagher, as "toxic" and "evil," according to video recordings of the interviews obtained by The New York Times.

Gallagher's war crimes case gained national attention after President Donald Trump controversially intervened on his behalf, ignoring Pentagon leaders who had told the President such a move could damage the integrity of the military judicial system.

When you hear about things like this, it really goes to show you how ill-equipped that Trump is for the role of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

Gallagher's own people referring to Gallagher as a "psychopath", but then Trump comes along and pardons this Egregious Murderer.

I can't even say that with a straight face. Trump just does what Hannity tells him to do.

 

Gallagher said his accusers acted cowardly. It's a he said/she said and you are choosing to believe his accusers so you can hate on Trump.

 

Given the description of the action that led to his prosecution, I support his pardon. The OP said he shot a 12 year olds, so what, they are often the ones shooting at us. One of my son's acquaintances in the 101st Airborne division he served in was killed when he was stabbed in the neck by a kid younger than 12 in Afghanistan.

 

The LW never misses a chance to hate on our military either. They love illegals more than they do our troops and cops.

 

Moonbeam Brown, Gavin Newsome and that governor in Virginia pardoned felons and criminal illegal aliens to either prevent them from being deported or so they could vote. I don't think the left's priorities align with what's best for the country.

 

He was on his 8th combat deployment when these incidents that he was court martialed for allegedly occurred. His 8th.

Perhaps we all share some responsibility. Don't we? We sent him on 8 combat deployments.

 

I think people are choosing the story that makes some sense. Gallagher’s does not. Even assuming his accusers were cowards, how does this make their accounts any less credible? If they are cowards, why did they say anything at all? Why not just say silent as cowards would? Calling them cowards is just such a dumb defense. Not to mention the fact that his accusers greatly outnumber him. Are they all just cowards in on it together? Sounds like a dumb defense.

You are accusing the liberals of favoring the accusers’ version of events to bash Trump. But you are giving Gallagher’s story the benefit of significant doubt just to defend Trump’s resolve decision to intervene in Gallagher’s case.

 

I’ll tell you what. You could never fathom the reality of horror that a serviceman witnesses in Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria during a tour, much less 20 years of deployment. You have no idea what it mentally requires to consistently do your job over there. There is no hesitation, there is no time to second guess. It’s either kill or be killed. From boot camp to BUDs training the killer instinct is constantly instilled in a combat serviceman.

And if you don’t think a 12 year old Muslim male is capable of Jihad then you’re lacking common sense. Wasn’t it just last week that a 13 and 14 year old brutally stabbed to death a college woman in New York? Just imagine a Muslim military aged male, some as young as 10, with a hand held rpg launcher in his hand aiming at a platoon of servicemen. Remember that opening scene in American Sniper in which Chris Kyle had to take out a Muslim youth that was a direct threat to our military? It happens there all too much. I can’t speak for the others that were speaking of Chief Gallagher, but not to have the balls to reveal your face when speaking of a SEAL teammate is rather unnerving.

 

All while the Swamp knew that mission was doomed.

 

Er, except CPO Gallagher was found NOT GUILTY of murder of a POW, and nearly a dozen other crimes.

Navy SEALs do direct combat.

By contrast, you could fly into Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, as a Marine mechanic, and fly out 8 months later without ever having left the base, never being in danger, and never firing a shot. All you did for 8 months was fix vehicles. I’m not knocking their service, but that is not what happens with SEALs.

I guarantee you, absolutely guarantee you ...

That if you, Andrew Jackson, do 8 deployments of the kind that SEALs do, whoever you are right now will not be the same person anymore - for better or worse. No way. You can say goodbye to the Andrew you once were because you will be changed forever, never to be that same person again.

Not 'we', the Pentagon. It's routinely abusing its own soldiers, playing foot war with relatively weaker and unsophisicated countries and even somehow ****ing that up. I'm very afraid if we get in a major war. You think we have the strategists in place to win? Who's this era's Eisenhower?

The first thing I'd do if I were President is evaluate the strategic decisions of top military generals in the past-15 years, pick the one's with the highest grades and demote the rest.; Seniority can no longer be the way we do things.

 

I think we have good military generals who can win wars. To my mind, what we must not ask of them to do again is to "nation build" and to act like a police force.
