True...I don't know what was said in the briefing and am relying on interviews with both Republican and Democratic attendees who complained about its inadequacy afterwards. I have no idea what Omar's security clearance is. If she has the appropriate clearance, I see no reason not to have briefed her as well. However, I don't believe the War Powers Act requires that the entire Congress be notified. I think the leadership of both Parties, from both the Senate and House would fulfill the requirement. Whether he had the authority to conduct the strike is debatable.

 

I rely on those who said it was complete and informative and showed the raid was totally justified. And whether he had the authority is not being debated the Democrats are whining they did get to vote on it or something.

The WH seems to have adhered to the War Powers Act requiring notification within 48 hours. The debate would be did the the message itself fulfill the requirements of the Act in relation to timing, cause, etc. I would argue that an inference may be drawn from the timing of the message itself (adhering to the Act) an awareness of the other requirements of the Act and raise the question of whether or not they were met?

I listened to Lee complain. He's changed his story. And, I don't think the WH notification to Congress complies with the War Powers Act. International law seems to hang on the definition of "imminent." Unless you have some reasonable estimate of when an attack will happen, it's impossible to know whether it is imminent or not. I think it fails on both counts. I suspect it will be debated in the U.N. Security Council and, if available, will listen to the administration's explanation there. Should be interesting.

 

He clarified it and the Dems for lack of nothing else are hanging on the "imminent" canard. Why should we have belief Soleimani and ceased his continuous and escalating attacks, he created his own imminence giving us no reason to believe his attacks had not stopped and the next one was "imminent".

I don't understand this mentality that here is a guy who leads multiple terrorist groups who have been attacking us for years, killing hundreds of Americans and thousands of others and has been ramping up and escalating his attacks with 3 last month including an attack on our embassy and an attack on our forces that killed an American but we can't touch him unless we catch him planting the bomb, setting up the mortar, our telling his terrorist get in the trucks, or board the plane with the bomb.

We KNEW his next attack was coming we KNEW his next attackS were coming..............we took him out. We don't have to know the exact details we know he intent.
