A defendant certainly CAN provide evidence and they usually do in order to prove innocence - so why has Trump not done so?

 

He did despite the fact he didn't need to. He provided the transcript of the call that supposedly crossed the line to criminality, which didn't. Republicans were not allowed to call witnesses in the House, the President could not be represented, and only Schiff could take the stage after the closed meetings in the basement of the Capitol Bldg. I'm hoping, to the extent possible, Republicans pay back the Democrats in kind and vote against hearing witnesses who weren't involved in framing the articles, as their testimony would be moot.

 

In this country, the accused doesn't have to prove innocence. It's up to the prosecutors, the House in this case, to prove guilt.

Semantics, methinks. A defendant is not responsible to 'provide' evidence. But is it okay for a defendant to hide or obscure evidence? Refuse access to evidence?

My point being that since Trump still routinely and effortlessly fills up huge venues in his rallies and none of the 'contenders' do -- so far anyway -- and this despite the MSM lying about Trump while promoting all democrat politicians to the hilt, indicates that Trump is probably going to win 2020's election.
