Well, I estimated a new high for Trump in his State of the Union addresses, and I was correct, fourteen documented fabrications, mischaracterizations, flat out lies, and that is with a conservative analysis, others have it in the twenties, new heights for what we have come to know as the "Chief Executive Liar." And by the way, each of the noted fabrications offer further documentarian, so please, no liberal media victimizing Trump responses

"Fact Checking State of the Union"
"Trump claimed the economy is “the best it has ever been.” But GDP growth fell to 2.3% last year and economists predict further slowing this year."

"He said he brought about low unemployment by reversing “years of economic decay” and “failed economic policies,” when in fact over 1 million more jobs were added in the 35 months before he took office than in the first 35 months since."

"Trump boasted that the “unemployment rate for women reached the lowest level in almost 70 years.” That’s true, but it had been trending down for several years before he took office."

"The president wrongly said, “After decades of flat and falling incomes, wages are rising fast.” They’ve gone up under Trump, but also have risen under the last several presidents."

"Trump claimed that people’s 401(k)s and pensions have increased “60, 70, 80, 90, and 100% and even more.” Some may have, but that’s far higher than the average."

"He said “real median household income is now at the highest level ever recorded.” However, the Census Bureau noted that was partly due to a change in survey questions in 2014. Based on “adjusted” figures, median household income was slightly higher in 1999 than in 2018."

"Trump claimed the new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico “will create nearly 100,000 … auto jobs.” But an independent federal commission puts the job gains at 28,000 over five years."

"The president boasted that “a long, tall, and very powerful wall is being built” along the southern border, and more than 100 miles have been completed. But only one mile is located where no barriers previously existed."

"Trump said “illegal crossings” at the southwest border “are down 75% since May.” But total apprehensions in 2019 were 81% higher than in 2016, the year before Trump took office."

"He said that “after losing 60,000 factories under the previous two administrations, America has now gained 12,000 new factories under my administration.” He’s referring to what the Bureau of Labor Statistics calls manufacturing “establishments,” and most of the growth under Trump has been in facilities with fewer than five employees."

"Trump compared apples to oranges in claiming a doubling of insurance premiums in five years before he took office and “less expensive” plans under his administration."

"The president said he made an “iron-clad” promise to “always protect patients with preexisting conditions,” but that ignores the fact he has supported Republican health plans that would reduce the current protections under the Affordable Care Act."

"He suggested, misleadingly, that his administration was responsible for the U.S. becoming the world’s top producer of oil and natural gas. But the U.S. has been No. 1 in the world for natural gas for more than a decade, and tops in petroleum since 2013."

"Trump said “300,000 working age people” left the workforce during Obama’s eight years. Actually, the workforce grew by 5.4 million."

The thing I remember most about the obama years was when people got their hours cut and were forced to find second jobs because of Obamacare. Hurt many people. The funny thing was watching Democrats complain about it not realizing why it happened.

I have never listened to a SOTU address in my life. I am certain that Trumps speech was full of lies and political jabs. While I understand the belief that your side of the same ugly coin is better, results show that he is the lesser of evils.

The State of the Union Address has devolved into a made for television brag fest. Does anyone care to fact check bragging by any President? I don't think so. One week from today the only two things that anyone will remember is that a daughter was reunited with her father after he finished his nine month deployment and Nancy Pelosi acting like a petulant child. That is it. Nothing else matters as far as the public is concerned.

That all looks like good news to me, hair splitting and all.

Factcheck does a good job helping fuel the fires of division by cherry picking individual stats then manipulating them when they can, they did the same thing when Obama did sotu and the anti Obama crowd loved to point them out.

I'll be honest, I didn't care about the little details then anymore than I do now.

But its entertaining to see people get worked up over the little things, maybe they will remember a fact or two and can impress people at parties.

As I mentioned in another thread, I didn't watch, I never watch (saw about 3 minutes, got bored and switched to watching comedy on Netflix)

Honestly I can't listen to ANY politician talk for more than 3-4 minutes, because they generally talk a LOT and say very LITTLE, politicians (and fact-checkers) cherry pick facts and figures to use to their advantage and blabber on for about 45 minutes more than necessary. Generally it bores the hell out of me because absolutely nothing said will impact me in any way, except maybe to waste 5 minutes of my time the next morning posting in threads like this :)

Let's Fact Check the "Fact Checkers.:

So, they admit that economic activity is 2.3% higher this year then last. So, Trump is right. The $20+ trillion economy is the best (biggest) ever.

The very low unemployment rate is proof that there are fewer people looking for work. That more jobs are being created is evidence of Trump's economic policies working.

So, they admit it's true. They just don't like it pointed out.

The fact is that "real wages" are increasing meaningfully faster than the inflation rate for the first time in decades. That fact is widely available.

I could go on debunking because the "Fact Checkers" are obviously duplicitous clowns that seek to influence the ignorant.

You must be truly embarrassed to start such a thread full of b.s. I feel bad for you ... but I'll laff anyways. :roflol:

Another fact check gone horrifically wrong. Premiums have starkly gone up since ACA went into effect with much of the coverage becoming second rate, HSA plans.

And for 2 consecutive years, premiums are for once on the retreat versus increasing at an exorbitant rate from prior years.

    OCT 23, 2019MORE ON MEDICARE & MEDICAID
ACA premiums are down 4% and more insurers are in market for 2020

"This is the second consecutive year of improving market conditions, CMS said, crediting the improvement to the Trump Administration's new flexibilities around the law, such as state-based reinsurance programs through Section 1332 waivers."

My local news fact checked the address...

Even the things where he was speaking the truth, the station would say "well, technically hes right, but here are the facts."

No, shut the **** up. Nobody cares about whether you think he lied.

In fact, nobody really cares at all. The vast majority of the country went back to work today without ever thinking about that speech. Meanwhile, the left is still so hung up on it they cant simply move on and, I dont know, pass a bill or something.

As I noted, the fact check site offered further documentation on how they arrived at thier evualtion, and if you go to the actual site, they will even give you further proof within the short narratives

"The president compared apples to oranges in claiming, “Before I took office, health insurance premiums had more than doubled in just five years. I moved quickly to provide affordable alternatives. Our new plans are up to 60 percent less expensive and better.”

"The administration had claimed a doubling of the “average premium” from 2013 to 2017, but, as we wrote, that compares individual market premiums before the Affordable Care Act’s major provisions went into effect with 2017 HealthCare.gov exchange premiums. The ACA required insurers to charge the same premiums, regardless of health status, and include a minimum set of benefits. So, cheap, barebones plans could no longer be offered to those who buy their own insurance."

"Also, as we explained in detail, the Department of Health and Human Services report that included these estimates said there were several limitations and caveats, including relying on data for 2013 that HHS acknowledged wasn’t a “perfect comparison.”

"As for the “affordable alternatives” Trump touted, his administration has issued rules to expand cheaper, less comprehensive insurance options, such as short-term insurance. Whether those plans would be “better,” as Trump claimed, would be a matter of opinion, as we’ve said before. They would cost less because they wouldn’t have to cover certain benefits and could vary premiums more widely than the ACA allows."

Obvious you didn't read the part where I told you the Fact Checker included further documentation explaining its' analysis, and if you go there they will even site further where their figures orginate

Not even close, "as of the most recent official estimate the nation’s real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product grew 2.3% last year. It grew 2.9% in 2018 and also in 2015, before Trump’s tenure. And it grew 3.8% in 2004 and 3.5% in 2005," well, unless your math has 2.3% higher than 3.8%

As for jobs created, Trump said, "since my election, we have created 7 million new jobs,” Trump said (taking credit for thousands of jobs created after the election but while Barack Obama was still president). The most recent figures show that in the 35 months after Trump actually took office, the economy added just under 6.7 million jobs."

"In fact, the rate of job growth has slowed down a bit under Trump. In the 35 months of supposed “economic decay” before he took office, the economy added nearly 8 million jobs."

And on wages, "Trump was wrong when claimed: “After decades of flat and falling incomes, wages are rising fast.”

"Wages have gone up under Trump, but they haven’t been “flat” for “decades.” Real wages, adjusted for inflation, have gone up over the last several presidencies."

"During Obama’s last four years in office, the average weekly earnings for production and nonsupervisory workers went up 4.9%. Over his eight years in office, wages went up 4.2%."

"During Trump’s time in office, those wages have gone up by 2.6%."

"These figures come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics."

If anyone should feel "bad," and "embarrassed" it is you returning with a weak and easily dismissed rebuttal

Then the question becomes what makes you think the supposed "results" are because of Trump and not in spite of Trump? Economic indicators show that Trump caught a wave, other than a sugar high in his stimulus to the rich, Trump has done nothing other than stay out of the way

:roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol: That you can't understand the simple premise that US economic activity was more this year 2019 than last 2018 thus "the economy is the best (biggest) it's ever been" tells me zackly why you're a leftist. Just WOW.

I will get on topic, who cared. If 10% of what Trump said was actual hard cased fact, this country is miles ahead of anything during the obama era.

Well, last I knew an American President publicly flat out lying to all Americans wasn't an acceptable practice, yet Trump does it often, nearly daily, and you seem to find no problem with it, hope you don't have any kids or grand kids and attempt to teach them lying isn't a good thing

And what makes you think that "where the country is" is because of Trump and not in spite of Trump? Trump caught a wave, and his only real accomplishment is that he hasn't blown it, yet anyways

But here, and they do often, they document and explain their fact checking, unlike yourself, who just shouts out something and expects anyone to take it as legitimate, this isn't talk radio or Fox prime time, you have to prove what you claim or be dismissed as a blowhard

No, I rather side with the facts, and economic indicators prove you are wrong, all wrong no matter how many emojis you add

And by the way, trying to help you out, emojis are corny, well, unless you are a middle school adolescent girl

The stock market went down in the 18 months before Obama left.

What part of that is a wave?

Lol, I wondered how long it would take for someone to come along with some left wing rags to "fact check" a speech that was fact checked before it was given.

Another day, another win for the right.
