This is why the left-wingers wanted Trump to be questioned under oath or by Federal prosecutors.

They wanted to catch Trump in a perjury trap.

Well, Trump is smarter than that and he didn't let that happen.

The investigation was never about finding any wrongdoing; they knew there was no “Russia-Trump”. It was all about staging a phony investigation and trying to get Trump caught on a technicality.

It was a massive fail, but it could have worked. They gave it a good try.

Even red hats know trump is incapable of telling the truth.
If he ever has to appear before a judge... ....

That's some Homer Simpson logic right there

Perjury is when you tell a lie while under oath that is material to the ongoing legal procedure. When you tell a lie, you are the one responsible. No one else.

You see, that's not how the left operates. Here's an example:

Weissman: Mr President, what direction does the Sun set?

    Trump: The west.

Weissman: We have witnesses who say otherwise. You are under arrest.

That's certainly how they got Papadopoulos. In fact his perjury trap 'crime' was so egregious that the judge gave him -- gasp! -- a token sentence of fourteen days. That was what Mueller and company were trying to do with Trump . . . and the nation knows it.

Nope, no one ever has, or ever could be charged for perjury from such a scenario. Believing such a notion to be true is both outlandish and childish

For one, perjury is when you lie about something that is material to the outcome of the ongoing legal proceeding. Second, you are innocent until proven guilty, if you say one thing in court and a witness says another, there has to be reasonable evidence based conclusion that your testimony is the one that is untruthful.

Unless the sunset is relevant to the outcome of the legal proceeding, and the evidence supports the witness who says the sun does not set in the west, you cannot be charged with perjury.

At least get your facts straight when you pretend to be superior to others.

    Perjury
A crime that occurs when an individual willfully makes a false statement during a judicial proceeding, after he or she has taken an oath to speak the truth.

Two federal statutes govern the crime of perjury in federal proceedings. Title 18 U.S.C.A. § 1621 codifies the Common Law of perjury and consists of the elements listed above. In 1970, the scope of section 1621 was expanded by the enactment of 18 U.S.C.A. § 1623. Section 1623 changes the definition of intent from willfully offering false testimony to merely having knowledge that the testimony is false. In addition it adds to the definition of perjury to include the witness's use of information, including any book, paper, document, record, recording, or other material she knows contains a false material declaration, and includes proceedings that are ancillary to any court, such as affidavits and depositions, and Grand Jury proceedings. Section 1623 also contains a retraction defense. If, during the proceeding in which the false statement was made, the person admits to the falsity of the statement before it is evident that the falsity has been or will be exposed, and as long as the falsity does not affect the proceeding substantially, prosecution will be barred under section 1623.

Its when you lie under oath, period end of story for any reason.

Actually, Papadopoulos plead guilty and had a reduced sentence from a plea bargaining agreement. People who have actually taken the time to read about his sentence already know this

If you mistakenly say it happened on Sunday when in fact it happened on Monday, that is perjury.

The left doesn't care what the perjury is, they just want to put that asterisk around Trump's neck.

Those are your words, and not the judge's.The judge who sentenced him never ruled that he was nailed in a "perjury trap". That's not an opinion, it is a fact.

It is your opinion that he was nailed in a perjury trap, which you are falsely crediting to the judge

    That is not accurate

For one, the day of the week would need to be material to the outcome of the ongoing legal proceeding, and second, if you mistakenly made a false statement, you would only be charged for perjury if you refused to recant your testimony upon learning that your statement was false. Which is why Jeff Sessions was not subject to perjury when he falsely said he did not speak to Russian officials in relation to the Trump campaign, and then later recanted that statement.

LOL.. No WAY Trump gets that correct the first time... but he has 3 other guesses...

Nobody "wanted" to get Trump in a perjury trap, but EVERYBODY knows it would be inevitable if he'd ever take that pesky oath thing...

I'm still laughing at the OP description of what you people consider a "perjury trap"...

Righties now think a perjury trap is simply asking a liar a question under penalty of perjury lmao
So basically everyone charged with perjury in history was simply trapped

Trump and his team are too smart to fall for the Democrats perjury traps and their coup attempt.

Trump made them look like fools and sewed up the 2020 election on top of all that. lol

    Trump: 10
    Democrats: 0

When you can't make a sound logical argument, just start calling every Trump supporter stupid. See how that works out for you come November.
