Is the Democratic Party destined to become the minority party for the foreseeable future? Taking into account the way Democrats have been behaving for the past four years, it would seem so.

In 2016, the GOP nominated a unlikable novice for President who bragged about his sexual exploits to a national television audience. It was the Democratic Party's election to lose. Instead, they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by nominating the worst possible candidate, Hillary Clinton. She was extremely well-qualified, but she had a ton of baggage to heft around during her election campaign, including an FBI investigation into her private server which she foolishly used while SecState.

She had another severe handicap, the independent socialist, Bernie Sanders. Bernie was not -- and is not now -- a member of the Democratic Party, and he felt slighted by the DNC's selection process in which Clinton was nominated. He did not keep his angst a secret. He bellowed it out to his devoted flock. Collectively, they felt cheated and some wanted the Democratic Party to pay.

Thus Bernie Sanders is responsible for Trump.

Please allow me to explain. Trump won because of the electoral votes in three states that were expected to go for Clinton, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Trump won all three states by less than 80,000 votes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...-three-states/

Bent on revenge, incredibly, Sanders' supporters switched their allegiance from a self-admitted to socialist to a dedicated, uncompromising capitalist, Donald J. Trump. 51,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Wisconsin. 47,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Michigan, and 116,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Pennsylvania. Bernie Sanders Voters Helped Trump Win and Here's Proof

Sanders' supporters gleefully admitted they voted for Trump. They were proud they were able to take out their revenge on the DNC.

Is Sanders out to destroy the Democrat's chances again? "This is the political reality of the moment ... we are taking on the entire political establishment, both the Republican and Democratic establishment," Sanders said. Is he calling for an election or a revolution? Will this approach beat Trump? Do a majority of American voters want a revolution? This is something Democrats should be thinking about.

The predominantly white Democratic voters in Iowa chose a gay man and a socialist to run against Trump. The predominantly white Democratic voters in New Hampshire did the same, as did the voters in Nevada. Don't get me wrong, while I am not infatuated with the socialist, Sanders, and I hold him responsible for Trump, I have nothing against Buttigieg, and I like what he says. I am just not at all sure that America is ready for a gay President. 63 million Americans voted for Trump in 2016. Most are still around in 2020, and many are disappointed with Trump. But will they vote for a gay candidate? Does the Democratic Party just toss 63 million votes away?

It gets worse. Bernie Sanders has taken the lead in national polls, overtaking former Vice President Joe Biden.

Are the Democrats going to nominate a socialist to defeat Trump? If so, they can kiss the independent vote away. There are a huge number of moderate Republicans who want a viable alternative to Trump. If the Democrats nominate a socialist, they can kiss that vote away, too. Moderate and conservative Democrats are not likely to vote for a socialist.

Trump has to be beaten. Our country may not survive another four years of this man and his obvious allegiance to Putin, the man who helped put Trump in office in 2016.

I can understand liberal and progressives wanting to make changes, but they should wait until they control the White House and Congress. It is within their grasp in 2020 if they don't blow it.

Then make changes when they have the power to do so. Right now they don't and they can't.

Counting Sanders and Warren together, over 55% of Nevada Democrats want a socialist to become the Democratic Party's candidate. Nevada Caucuses 2020: Live Results and Coverage - The New York Times

It is difficult to believe that so many Democrats actually think Sanders will be able to deliver on his socialist promises. When Trump and his cronies say they will defeat the socialist Democrats -- which they say often -- Sanders supporters are proving Trump and his cronies right.

It is time to consider that Democrats will cause Trump to remain in office for another four years. Unbelievable!

Yes the DNC is. The reason? Because dems blame Sanders for Clinton’s L.

you all still don’t get it. You lose because of your failed policies...and now you have totally gone over to socialism and will continue to lose

the ironic part is his party’s front runner USA socialist that wants to transform the US into Venenzula and he talks about a president that has given us full employment as a threat

Democrats are mostly in large cities. They seem to have a reliance on big government. There are more of them than there are Republicans. Their party is not likely to do anything but grow since the big cities (outside of California) appear to attract them.

So now you are reduced to excuses. You just want Trump out of the way but you have no alternative. It's a sad narrative for you Sandy. So you are limited to the old Democrat strategy that was.....get elected before you let your Marxist intentions known. Bernie's too ballsy for you.

They could run out of tears; rendering their whining less effective...

This whole thing is so irrational. I mean a year of not accepting Trump would be pushing it, but livable, four years straight? Liberals have simply lost it...

First they start with the educated, round anyone up that will announce that the king (sanders) has no clothes. Then they recruit anyone willing to do their bidding though violence. A pattern old as time.

MSNBC just recently employed their anti-Trump 'nazi' smear rhetoric against Bernie. Now Sandy is here to explain how 'Trump is Bernie's fault.'

Don't yall realize this crap is going to illustrate to Bernie supporters what the establishment has been doing to Trump?

The DNC would rather Trump win in 2020 and the Dem party discredit and destroy itself than let Sanders run against Trump in the general.

My tinfoil hat wants to know why.

Plutocracy. We are not a 'democracy', and the moment that the citizenry realizes that, our politics will change. With lobbyists lobbying congressmen and congresswomen, they're the ones who write the legislation, they're the ones who dictate what happens and they're the ones who are selecting the very same congressmen and congresswomen.

Plutocracy is the worst kind of government, because it's the kind of government where you get absolutely zero say and the caste system(like that of India) is in full effect.

Because Bernie is a failure. He failed at everything he tried until he scored a government job. He couldn’t scrape up two dimes to rub together in the private sector. In his entire elected career he hasn’t accomplished much but to rename a couple of post offices. A government job is Bernie’s crowning achievement, he is nothing without it. A government paycheck is all he knows. The government is his savior and I’m certain that applies to his followers as well.

Listen up Liberal! As the liberal Thomas frank titled his last book. That obviously you have not read or you would understand what is going on outside of the coastal bubble.

The dem party under Clinton kicked aside the people who had kept the dems in power since fdr. Working Americans and not just white working Americans. Fact. The DP stopped representing these people. And they suffered economically as the middle suffered and people dropped into the working poor.

Obama failed these people with his lies of hope and change. He was a wall street president. A globalist that loved that giant sucking sound.

In 16 we had 2 candidates of change in favor of those the dems and people like you kicked to the curb. Sanders from the fdr left and trump from the GOP . The change candidate, trump beat Hillary the corporate globalist shill. And no doubt those working people who voted for sanders that would have tried to help them voted for trump because he promised to help them. And he won because sanders was in part cheated by the dems who kicked working people to the curb.

This time sanders is still the change candidate and he will get those working american vote that had to vote trump in 16 after sanders was cheated .

Sanders is the only dem who stands a chance against trump. And you will see that proved in nov. If trump wins it will not be by a landslide .

A huge swath of service sector working poor that should be middle class will change your treasonous dem party back into the party of the people. You should join the GOP since once trump is gone they will be like the current DP and refuse to stand up for working people. Now I doubt trump has actually represented these people as he campaigned on but many of them think he has . But the sanders people who went with trump given his promises will flock back to sanders and trump is by default their second choice.

But if the dems pull out the banana republic tricks of 16 and beat sanders his supporters will vote trump over an establishment dem who cant stand working people.

Go sanders I want to be a democrat again and cant be unless we get the party back from people like you the enemy of every working American in America .

We have to get the balance back and once again have the dems being the party of the common man Let the GOP be the party of the rich, banking and mncs as they are supposed to be. They will welcome you with open arms as you get the hell out of my old party and we kick your kind to the curb.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said in July 2016 referring to emails Mrs. Clinton had deleted from the private account she had used when she was secretary of state. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

July 16, 2018, in Helsinki, Trump, in a stunning rebuke of the US intelligence community, declined to endorse the US government's assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, saying he doesn't "see any reason why" Russia would be responsible. Instead, Trump -- standing alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin -- touted Putin's vigorous denial.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today," Trump said during a joint news conference

Of course you have no idea, you haven't kept up with the latest propaganda prop, which was so fake that again Congress called it out and called out the renegade official who propagated it. While I'm angered, let me take out my anger towards Europe(and particularly Germany/France.) Germany claims it will raise its spending by 2% in....2031. France has failed to give any such commitments as well. Despite that, they have the gall to claim the United States isn't their ally.

There's only so long the United States should accept this insult, while being their protectorate and highest benefactor. Ike's idea of NATO fell short when the European partners within failed to participate in the alliance. In fact, it's only a European alliance, it has no benefit to the United States.

Huge numbers of moderate Republicans where? Trump's approval among Republicans higher than ever. Between 90 and 95%. The weekly standard the neocon mouthpiece is dead so is it's best known politician.
The Dems are already underwater with independents in swing states and after three years of trying to impeach Trump his numbers are higher than ever. And it would seem the Dems are going to keep hurling themselves on the impeachment sword until they either bleed to death or hit something vital. That much you got right. The Dem establishment candidates are a senile old goat who can't get out of his own way a fossilized undersized billionaire with more NDAs than delegates thus far, a woman whose primary response from voters is who? And the mayor of a small town who wasn't very good at that, and you wonder why Bernie's ahead!

Geez, Sandy. The person most responsible for Hillary losing is Hillary formost, and the democratic establishment that produced a system that denied Dems a serious alternative to Hillary. She was a pretty weak candidate, and anyone who watched this disaster unfold, knew it long before the convention. Every pore on her body exuded 'establishment politician' pheromones less than a decade where voters were in a very nasty mood towards just those types. She had the Washington DC zip code tattooed all over her. But the party offered no realistic alternative past the demise of O'Malley. That is not the fault of Sanders voters, its the fault of an entire process that validated a sense of entitlement by Hillary with a political coronation. How was it an entire party of established politicos, could have lacked the acumen to see this coming when I knew she was 100% the wrong candidate to put out there that close to the Great Recession. People were blaming these parties and the system, and look who we shoved front and center as an agent of change and reform! It was lunacy.

It was her job to win voters over, especially in those very states and our job and Dem voters collectively to sense that she could not win those voters and go a different direction. Sadly none was provided.

And they still aren't. The problem with the Dem party is that it can't get passed the idea of government as redresser of the cosmic balance.

    Bulls eye!

The Dem ESTABLISHMENT lost the 2016 election by FAILING to address the very REAL concerns of the electorate.

The Dem Establishment IS the problem in 2020 again and if they REPEAT their 2016 ERROR then yes, they will doom themselves to be the minority party.

The FUTURE of the DP is the Progressives! They have PROVEN that they can win elections and they are highly motivated and organized. They are the REASON why Bernie is doing as well as he is in the primaries.

The Dem Establishment needs to either climb aboard the Bernie Express or get out of the way IMO.

We the People are in no mood to be effed around by the Dem Establishment any longer.

I'd say Trump has his fair share of blame. Some folks have definitely gone overboard on the anti-Trumpery, but Trump is always there to stir the pot. While both Trump and his opponents are responsible for their actions, Trump has shown pure contempt and disdain for anyone and anything in the government that is not fawning at his feet. That pretty much falls in line with how he treats everybody in his life. Electing a despicable disgusting corrupt man like Trump to sit in the Oval Office is almost an insult in and of itself to the institution. The people who put a man like that there already didn't care about integrity or respecting the office. Nor are they concerned with holding Trump to any standards of decency or decorum or respect or honesty.

When folks outright refuse to hold the president accountable for his actions, all of them and not just the cherry picked ones, they too are not showing any respect for the office, or the nation.

It's the in-thing right now to be completely immature and childish in politics, confirmed by the election of a man who defines those categories everyday in front of the entire world.

It depends on what kind of "contempt and disdain" that we're talking about. If you're talking about Trump's personality in of itself, this is not a valid reason to act in insubordination, or to act out in anyway. You can dislike your boss, and still work for your boss. That's the hallmark of a great worker, and an indispensable part of our society.

And for as much as we complain about Trump's personality, he's not going to change that personality nor does that personality impact the policies that come out of the White House. Let us be clear: There is no excuse for this activity. It's inexcusable behavior, and after a while of putting up with it, you can tell that I'm not putting up with it anymore.

We're destabilizing the country, and the government because we don't like a guy. That's not the fault of the guy, that's entirely the fault of the workers, who see themselves as greater than the "company"(being the WH) and greater than their boss.

Now, it's a bit different from a job in that, if it's an illegal act you can certainly call it out. But the challenge there, is if it's definitively an illegal act. In watergate, armed robbery is obviously illegal(and hiring someone else to carry out that act is also illegal.) But like it or not: There wasn't an statue per se(other than the Impoundment Control Act, which well is laughable and not even the House acted on it.) or a violation of law.

Trump can take the most disliked actions ever, but those actions aren't illegal. And just because they're disliked, doesn't mean it should breed contempt which in turn has destabilized the entire society. So is it really "holding Trump accountable for "his actions"? No, what it really is is: "Holding Trump accountable for being President to begin with."

And I'm no longer letting that behavior slide. It's worse than Trump's behavior, and yes it is childish.

Give him some time. It's possible that his brain cells froze up on that question. The worst that can happen is that the economy flips at some point during Trump's second term. That's pretty much it.
