Court hands Trump win in sanctuary city fight, says administration can deny grant money

    Abuse of sanctuary, abuse of tax dollars. These sanctuary entities ant it all their way.


    A federal appeals court on Wednesday handed a major win to the Trump administration in its fight against “sanctuary” jurisdictions, ruling that it can deny grant money to states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.


    The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York overturned a lower court ruling that stopped the administration’s 2017 move to withhold grant money from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which dispenses over $250 million a year to state and local criminal justice efforts.

    No doubt liberals will be in shortly to whine about 'activist' judges...

    This is a significant victory for the Trump administration. Democrats don't seem to have much going for them these days...

    Then they wouldn't receive federal dollars. It would easier to just admit that the court got it right instead of desiring to escalate the issue...

    Nope. Federal law requires individuals, corps etc to pay federal taxes.

    Supremacy clause.

    This was a open and shut cause...no different then when the Feds withheld fed dollars to states that wouldn't increase their drinking age to 21

    A few decades ago the Dems attempted to ignore federal law, and leave the Union...causing a great Civil War, all because they wanted to keep people in chains. Well the GOP and Freedom, won the war and saved the Union....the Dems however obviously didn't stop, ulimtately the SCOTUS ruled in Texas v White, you can't simply leave...this case is as big as that..
