Panic? Not hardly. People are concerned that until yesterday, the medical community was discounted by Trump. The cure for that is to ignore Trump and listen to the doctors of CDC and other reliable news sources.

The impact to the world economy has begun and is likely to continue for some time.

    Probably answer that better?

Since he is not a virologist maybe defer to them? He isn't required to answer every question. It would be expected to defer those questions to the professionals.

First case in the US with no known contacts:

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/27/health/us-cases-coronavirus-community-transmission/index.html

I was pretty hopeful, but after this news, I am convinced that it WILL spread in the US. There are probably other carriers out there already, who happily pass it on to others. There may have even be already cold/flu cases that were COVID, but nobody tested them, because they hadn't been to China. Or they even never went to the doctor in the first place.

The drug being tested in the trial, remdesivir, was previously tested in humans for Ebola and in animals for MERS and SARS. There are also clinical trials of the drug going on in China, the NIH said, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases developed the American study to match those studies.
The first participant in the Omaha trial is an American who was evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.
Participants will receive 200 milligrams of remdesivir intravenously when they're enrolled and another 100 while they're hospitalized for up to 10 days in total. A placebo group will receive a solution that resembles remdesivir but contains only inactive ingredients, the NIH said.

^^^^^^^ THAT'S :eyepopping: :skull: IF YOU'VE GOT IT.

Has he banned flights to and from South Korea, Italy, France, UK, Brazil and the other 41 countries? Are you going to start a movement to impeach Trump for not banning 46 countries?

    So funny: Trump:

“Well I don’t think it’s inevitable,” Trump said when asked by Fox News reporter Kristin Fisher about the CDC’s warning the virus will definitely spread. “It probably will. It possibly will. It could be at a very small level or it could be at a larger level. Whatever happens we’re totally prepared,” Trump continued. “We have the best people in the world. You see that from the study. We have the best prepared people, the best people in the world. Congress is willing to give us much more than we’re even asking for. That’s nice for a change. But we are totally ready, willing and able. It’s a term we use. It’s ready, willing and able. It’s going to be very well-under control. Now, it may get bigger, it may get a little bigger, it may not get bigger at all. Whatever happens, we’re totally prepared.”

He could have saved time by just saying that "I have no clue about what I'm talking about" instead of attempting to sound knowledgeable, but hey, that's Trump who knows nothing about practically everything

Well, he seems to think that it will go away with warmer temperatures. Wonder where he pulled that one from?

The one thing more deadly than the virus itself is the panic it can cause.

If it's going to spread, regardless of what we do (which I believe it will), what is the point in causing nation wide hysteria?

It might. Colds and flu spread every year. No reason to think otherwise. It is what it is. But causing a panic about it doesn't really help.

Gasp! You mean the leftist dream of a world without meaningful borders has got . . . consequences? Oh dear! You do know that any infected people who made it to any nation inside the E.U. can vector the infection throughout the entire place because . . . no way to halt or even check the flow of people from nation to nation? The real world effect of the leftist Utopian dream in action.

What has that got to do with Trump saying that it will die when it gets warmer!

Nancy P, was in Chinatown in San Fran yesterday....she clearly has faith that the President is doing a great job, why are you all worried?

    https://abc7news.com/5964696/

"I'm here," she said. "We feel safe and sound with so many of us coming here. It's not only to say it's safe but to say thank you for being Chinatown."

Those just reduce viral load, they don't eliminate the virus. Faith in science is good, if it is justified by the facts. On the other hand, we now have a theocrat who believes in intelligent design run the COVID response. Maybe he, like some of his crazy extremist Christian brethren in the Katrina recovery, think that God designed the virus as punishment for the sinners (substitute that for the ones that don't have money in GOP moral worldview). What could possibly go wrong?

Sounds like you were panicked...likely from the leftist media. Glad the president was able to calm you down yesterday.

presidents can not stop the spread of airborne virus'...

that said, even if trump built massive air scrubbers & a dome over the usa, y'all still condemn him...

that attitude is why i no longer give any credence to anyone yelping anti-trump rhetoric...

He’s answer was brilliant. He is leaving it up to the professionals. That’s what good leadership does.
