It's nauseating that some people need to check the letter in parenthesis next to someone's name before they decide if any particular "thing" is helpful or harmful, when it comes to this disease. Blech - a pox on all their houses.

 

The Cuomo info-session is going on right now.

Cuomo has thanked the 21,000+ out of staters who are coming to NY to help in the crisis.

Cuomo is asking for companies who an re-tool to make surgical gowns and other PPE to contact the state and get going.

He is now talking about ventilators. That is going to be the problem across the entire country.

He is saying that at the current rate, there are enough ventilators in the stockpile for about 6 more days. After those 6 six days, if the rate continues or rises, then there will be a major problem with ventilators.

Cuomo is making it clear that he and his staff know exactly where ever ventilator is. All elective surgery is cancelled. Also, anesthesia ventilator machines are being commandered into service as normal ventilators.

Also, using extra tubes, most ventilators are being turned into double-ventilators. Cuomo says that this is doable, but anything other than ideal.

BiPap machines are also being converted into ventilators.

You can tell that Cuomo has left no stone unturned in finding ventilators or any machine that can function as a ventilator. He is proving to be superb at thinking out of the box.

 

I don't disagree with what you are saying, nor what the FDA has done, but the issue unfortunately has become politicized -- and many of the arguments about it have followed that politicized course.

 

I was just reading an article about aerosol transmission citing some of the same sources as the article you posted.

I was relieved to read that most of the time they have found particles lingering in the air after some time lapse, those particles were no longer alive, but has died. It appears that the virus can't live very long outside the body. I like the analogy from the article I'm linking here. They can find the virus' RNA, like a fingerprint that it was there, but the criminal has already gone.

And I think this is a very good idea.

Chris Cuomo does not look good, but he is talking honestly about the fight that he is in. He talked about hallucinations he had during the fever.

The two brothers obviously beat the **** out of each other as kids, which is New Yorker for "I love you, Bro!" So, this tit-for-tat is normal and good, for NY standards.

America can learn to love the Cuomo family.

 

I know, right? Just because a member has made political posts on the thread before, which applies to every single person here, doesn't mean that they should automatically be cancel-cultured when they make a neutral and hopeful post about potential treatments being tried.

Just to underscore that, especially since your contributions here have been enormous, and I have written this more than once, I am for anything that works. And hope really is good. I am not against hope. But I am also for ve' emet emunah (holding fast to the truth).

I have developed a new-found appreciation for the straightforwardness and tit-for-tat style of New Yorkers the last few years. New Yorkers have a reputation for being the rudest people in the country, but when the going gets tough, it's nice to have a New Yorker fighting for you. Lives are being saved. Clinical trials in which sick people are given sugar pills are immoral. There are statistical methods for demonstrating efficacy without control groups taking placebos.

That is how clinical trials work. People volunteer for trials, knowing that they may get a placebo or the drug being tested.

The "compassionate care" use of hydroxychloroquine is decided by the doctor and authorized by the patient to get the drug (not a placebo). Those results are being documented as well I'm sure.

 

It is the utmost stupidity to have both the Pres and the Vice standing everyday that close together.

It is a horrible example, when asking people to stay at home, social distancing and son.
You lead by example.
It is absurd picture with the press sitting 6 feet apart and them crowding around the microphone.​

 

But FDA approval trials don’t have to work that way. People with life threatening illnesses who volunteer should not have to draw straws.

They have been tested and they wash their hands as do Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx.

 

With true sadness, I report to the PF community that we have now crossed over the 50,000 dead threshold ; it happened before we have reached 1,000,000 officially verified COVID-19 cases across the planet (we are not there quite yet). This with the number of deaths has happened a little less than 5.5 hours before my day is over in Germany.



Please notice that the death rate has moved upward to 5.12%.

If you will notice, the death rate with or without China in the mix is, for the very first time, identical: 5.12%. This means that of this point in time, China's % of cases and % of deaths is such a minority of the entire world's picture that it doesn't make any sense to consider whether or not China's figures skew the statistics in any way. They do not. That is now mathematically verified.

We are less than 18,000 COVID-19 cases from the 1,000,000 mark. This is a truly horrifying moment for humanity. We have already added just under 52,000 cases over yesterday and most likely, we will come in at over the +76,000 from yesterday over the day before. Soon, +100,000 to +150,000 cases per day is going to be normal.

I found some good news in the State level Data.



That is a raw case count DROP of 38 Positives. It is probably just a reporting mistake from the previous day (which went from 264 to 406), but we TAKE THOSE.
