    Wow. Wow. Wow.

From the red to green color distribution you can clearly see that the larger, more industrial states have been hit first and the smaller, generally more rural states are also slowly moving in the red zone. The progression from day to day is absolutely crystal clear. Soon, it will ALL be deep red, regardless of geography.

    Wow. Wow. Wow

    Thank you for posting that.

Agreed. This isn't a situation where the FDA needs to cover its freaking backside. People are dying, that should be the first and foremost priority. And when/if this treatment prevents people using hospital beds/ventilators, which the hospital community has complained so much about(this whole thing is basically FOR THEM), that means we should be using this treatment more quickly and more effectively.

New deaths in Germany are beginning to show a significant rise and, if that is indicative of a trend, the prognosis for Germany (despite a promising start earlier) won't be all that great either. Yesterday, Germany reported 156 new deaths (their highest number yet) and they have been consistently reporting more than 100 new deaths since March 29. This is noteworthy for me, since Germany had until recently been rather the exception and not so much part of the general rule we have seen with the virus.

    Son of a....

    world class trapeze artist?

    virtuoso violinst?

    dentist's assistant?

    Underwater basket-weaver?

    piss-page?

    LOL!!

Now you see why still seeing the raw numbers, when well color coded, helps them to dance like sugarplum-fairies in your head!

Great article. Thanks. I noticed it referenced a study mentioned in the article I posted--about the RNA thing. I'd read that other article before, but this morning while I was out for a walk, I could smell cigarette smoke and there was no one around, no cigarettes on the ground, and the only car passed a few minutes earlier. I've noticed this before--on a calm day a car drives past. As I walk along the road, I can smell the smoke. It lingers in the air for sometime before dissipating. I thought of how some people with lung issues or even just bad breath can leave the air with pockets of pollution. I guess it's too late to make this short, but if someone sneezes or coughs in public, there is some chance that it could linger in the air just long enough for someone else to pass through the mess and not realize it. The take away from this is that social distancing can be quite effective--maybe more so than masks.

Also, when I lived in Japan, they often wore masks in public. The masks were not for personal protection, but for keeping illness from spreading. The population density was insane there. If you had a cold or the flu, you were expected to wear a mask to keep from spreading it. Can't say how effective it was, but it was considered a civic duty.

So now I'm wondering about gloves. I had to run to the hardware store a few days ago, and I honestly had never seen so many people out in public in that area. The governor had just issued a stay at home order and people were flocking to stores to stock up. I got what I needed and went to pay but stopped when I saw the card reader. I was staring at it when the girl at the register told me to slide my card in. I looked but couldn't find any hand sanitizer or wipes anywhere near. I had to brave it and tap my numbers on the pad, but I did so while holding my breath.

Indeed. I have been noting many times on this thread that the % of cases that are not officially healed in Germany is simply enormous and that a day may happen when a ton of people who have held on for dear life for up to 4 weeks now may still end up dying. It's sad, but I have been noting this all along the way.

A friend of mine, a doctor, just finished a 48-hour shift. He literally worked non-stop for two days in a row, which is actually, in normal circumstances, not allowed under German law.

My sister was actually going to get married this winter with a Texas gal. If this virus permits, we can have German Pretzels and a grand celebration.(I love soft pretzels in general but the German soft pretzels are to die for. No, literally if I must die I want to have one german soft pretzel before I go.)

Now at 990,235 COVID-19 cases, we are now less than 10,000 from the one-million-mark.

Yeah, the German pretzels aren't bad. But most Germans love Italian cuisine. Funny, that...

Our oldest was going to marry his high school sweetheart in June. That was postponed for a year.

There have been a couple people I've noticed while out shopping over the last few weeks who were notable for the scent they left in the air. One appeared to be homeless, or just slovenly, who was a walking cloud of lingering body odor. The other was an elderly gentleman with an elderly service dog. He had my sympathy, but he smelled as though no one had changed his Depends in three days. The entire pasta/rice/beans aisle where he was standing smelled like pee/poop and was particularly strong when I passed him.

I've also found myself holding my breath in a store when someone is about to walk by me and I'm thinking, "That person is about to walk within 6 feet of my space, and I can't move over."

Just 38 minutes ago, I posted that we passed the 50,000 mark in COVID-19 death. Within those 37 minutes, we are now already a hair's breadth away from 51,000 (50,928 ). Things are moving considerably faster now, exactly as predicted, since so many nations are now well over the 1,000 mark.

It appears that Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, with help from a number of friends and some great out of the box thinking, has procured a ton of PPE for his state. It's being flown in from China.

Ok, it shows that the Gov. is fighting hard for this state just like Cuomo is for NY. Kudos to him. Well done, Charlie.

But hey guys, the next time there is a pandemic can we please skip the hunger-games part and just have a damned well-stocked national inventory of PPE and ventilators and such???

Detroit is reporting right at this moment that all ICU beds are all taken and there is a large percentage of health care workers who are sick and cannot work.

Louisiana is reporting right at this moment a +42% increase in COVID-19 cases, says that today's numbers are going to be "jarring". Part of this is being attributed to a logjam in getting test results back.

I wish exponential curves weren't a thing, but they definitely are. I had naive hopes it'd be like the dow stock, it'd go super up and then come crashing down.

Well then, it's become even more important to do what I can not to get sick :(. On the positive side, I've just taken advantage of CVS's online delivery system and I should have my asthma refills soon.

This news, although political, is not partisan nor is it meant to be partisan. I also expected to read this either today or in the next days. The Democratic National Committee has moved the Democratic National Convention from July 13-16 to August 17-20.

So, currently, both major political parties will be having their respective Conventions in the latter half of August, 2020.

I fully expect this information for both parties to change again, relative to what happens with COVID-19 wave I.

I am hearing voices in both parties speaking loudly about virtual nominating conventions, respectively. It may become necessary in order to protect human life, which is exactly why I am posting this information here on this thread. Kudos to the DNC for making a logical decision based on public health concerns. Should both parties move eventually to virtual nominating conventions, this will have my complete support. The age of COVID-19 requires more and more out of the box thinking.
