New York has slowed their infection rate to R=.9. That's great! Looks like they've passed the peak and are on the decline now. They still have over 1000 hospitalizations per day, but the number of people needing ventilators has reduced dramatically...which is wonderful since 80% of their intubated people were dying.

LOL notwithstanding, you have repeatedly accused Russia of lying over the past few weeks while it was sending aid to other countries. That is not to say you haven't tossed criticism at other countries, but rather you have made a point, time after time, of singling out Russia.

My post wasn't prompted by any perceived dislike of the BBC, but your own hypocrisy. It is here in the thread for any that wish to look or for those with a good memory.

    But, hey, LOL!!

Cuomo is asking for $500 billion (half a trillion dollars) in federal dollars to reopen New York. :cynic:

You forgot the most important lesson. Never believe the Red Chinese Communist government.

Also for the CDC: never take shortcuts when developing virus tests. The US lost a month of testing because the initial test kits were contaminated.

I’m sure the D’s will be right on that. Curiously they still haven’t increased the paycheck protection money which ran out a week ago.

You have every right to your opinion. Enjoy it!

And yes, I have criticized Russia more than once, in fact, right off the bat in the OP. But I am not in any way a Russia-hater. Quite the opposite.

But I call 'em like I see 'em!!

I still love everyone in this totally disfunctional PF family. That includes you.

Well, if we go per capita and New York gets $500 billion to tell people they can go back to work, then Florida gets $500 billion, Texas gets $750 billion, and California gets $1 Trillion and other states get $5.5 Trillion (divided by each state's per capita population). Meh, what's another $8 Trillion or so to let people go back to their jobs?

Also (and I appreciate that you don’t like politics in this thread) why is he asking for the aid on national TV? The other day he prefaced his daily briefing washing his hands of politics and the did the next 30 minutes on politics.

This map depicts mean temperatures in January around the world in relation to the numbers of cases they were reporting regarding the spread of the virus in mid-March.
Based on this map, the 'mean" temperature for January in Iran seems slightly colder than in most of western Europe, but warmer than in eastern Europe. Somewhat similar to the US, especially the middle parts. In any case, in mid-March when this map was done, none of those countries which had very warm or very cold weather had showed any significant spread of the virus. Looking at this map, in fact, the main anomaly appears to be Turkey, which has similar temperatures as Iran. The color for the rest of the Middle East seems to indicate warmer average temperatures than the ones which showed the greatest spread of the virus. Among European countries, most of those who didn't show significant spread of the virus (e.g., Russia) had colder temperatures than the range shown by those which had the most significant spread.

A month later, what we are seeing is that some of the colder places in the northern hemisphere get warmer and closer to the range of the countries in western Europe a month before. We will also see the southern hemisphere start to approach its winter in a couple of months. If these weather patterns hold, this means that beginning to see the virus spreading further in these places in the coming weeks is to be expected. Of course, no one factor explains or can predict the issue, but looked at in conjunction with maps showing population density and those showing percentage of the population that is obese, might give a sense of places where the virus might not only spread the most next, but also cause the most fatalities after it spreads.

Not quiet, football all across Europe packs more people, two or 3 times a week into the stadiums. The season was in full swing, including European club competitions.
One of the stupide move the UK made, to let people into stadiums, during the outbreak.

None of that would explain why the virus has so massively spread, in a region the size of Switzerland with a population of just 250,000.

So, then, Trump is responsible for nothing and we should reelect him.
