Small businesses are closing forever without government help that republicans are giving to big businesses. Esptimates of 40% or higher for many small businesses to ever return. Because they make up more then half of the job market, it’s not a switch Trump would have you beleive.

 

True...but Trump could not have done it without the cooperation of the republican controlled government. They are the ones that were in lockstep with Trump while he let the CDC devolve and today, has made it a political tool where every announcement has to go through him.

 

Comparing this to the Great Depression is idiotic. The difference between now and then is massive. What we are in today was caused by a pandemic. The economic structure is much different as well.

 

It doesn’t matter what it was caused by, the length of recovery from the great depression was exacerbated by the initial conservative effort to put a strangle hold on the economy. This **** only helps themselves. They of course continued to collect their checks.

The difference between now and then is astronomical. The economy is not the same. As long as there is demand there will be supply. We have a global supply chain and online commerce these days. Transactions take place at the speed of light. We had none of that during the Great Depression.

 

They are not reluctant to open the economy. They are reluctant to open it STUPIDLY. It seems Trump thinks testing and contact tracing is too hard and leaving it to states to do on their own without a national plan. It can’t be done.
