You act like the people who want to keep the statues aren't tax paying Americans? How anti American of you.
These dumb bastards have no idea what they are doing. They're just the insolent, nihilistic children of Dr. Spock: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news...-statue-toppled-madison-what-know/3248692001/ The National Park Service maintains a 10' high pyramid of 8" shells at the spot where Col. Heg died for the Union on Chickamauga Battlefield.
Confederate Statues should be moved, yes, Martin Luther King statues should remain on public land, they do not need to be on State house lawns though - unless both parties have them one is a good part of America's past, the other is an evil part - see the difference why would Black Bart be on a State House lawn?
agree, there are so many Confederate statues, many of the young don't know which are which, this is what supporting Confederate statues does, time to remove them
oh that's perfect, I recall someone on this site (think it was @modernpaladin ) said Islam is like communism
Of course you're welcome to share that and anything else you feel is useful. I'm flattered that you found my humble acronym quoteworthy and wish you luck at the next rally.
~ They all represent part of American history. They need to stay. Here in California we have statues of Walt Disney. He hired no black illustrators and was rumored as a racist. Germany keeps a concentration camp open to the public for teaching and a reminder of the past. We need to see the past , learn from it and improve - not ignore and hide it and think that we can create a La La Land.
Being a person that believes in more States Rights and less Federal Rights I can't see what good there was in that. The Federal government needs to "Live and Let Live". Not much humor in your life is there. Guess not since the political police have killed the comedian.
The statues are not real you know. The racism is in your mind. So should we remove all street signs and anything that uses tax payer money? Doe's it bother you that you pay taxes to support the government in WASHINGTON D.C? I'm pretty sure none of those statues have ever attacked you or bothered you in any way. They more than likely will not make an iota of difference in your life but you are letting them live in your head rent free. I guess you don't mind forcing white people to pay taxes for real black people for their upkeep and security. Many of them are prejudice and envious of white people also.
I believe forcing people to pay taxes for the upkeep and security of Democrats is wrong. They'll toss my honky butt into jail if I don't. There's a lesson for liberals in that.
You know, I took history in high school and college. I'll be damned if I haven't tried, but I can't think of a single time that I learned about a statue of Thomas Jefferson being a part of history. There was the real Thomas Jefferson of course. He'll always be a part of our history. But the statue must be some obscure Freemason thing or something. What did it do? What's the story? Racking my brain, I can't really think of any instances where history was made by a statue. People, sure. But not statues, with the exception of very large ones like the Statue of Liberty. Come to think of it, there's probably a very rational and logical reason for that. That reason is simple. The statues are not the history. Removing them doesn't remove history, it just removes a statue. It just removes a reference to history, one of many. Now if these statues were the only way we had to convey our history down through the ages, that might be a different story. But they aren't. Nor are they even an effective teacher. Our history will remain intact. It is not being threatened. All that said, I would rather these statues be removed intact and moved elsewhere. They don't need to be destroyed by vandals and shitheads. This is not some Saddam Hussein moment. Nobody living has been oppressed by Robert E. Lee or Thomas Jefferson. I support these statues being moved, but the juvenile behavior is stupid.
They're trying to goad us into starting a war with them because they know they'll lose if they start one with us. They'll eventually run out of monuments and institutions and cities to destroy, and they'll start making the wrong folks defend themselves.
One thing I find humorous is how few people in this country actually have knowledge of the civil war, the events leading to it or those that participated in it. Many have no clue when it was fought, and some when asked where it was fought, can’t tell you that. So in the latest string of monument tear downs we have had statues destroyed of some that were not fighting for the Confederacy. Then, a favorite question I sometimes ask is, when was the War of 1812? Try it, see how many figure that? As for States Rights, many people, have little clue of the original debate over that issue, when it was argued, and even what in the Constitution defines federal supremacy. Then there are those that attempt to vilify Washington and Jefferson regarding slaves, but have no understanding why that was nor why they didn’t free their slaves immediately after the Constitution was ratified. So, on one hand, I echo sentiment regarding removing the statues that can be used to show how, despite our history, we have the Country we have today and how those that protest and voice their grievances in this country are able to do so without fear of their lives, but then so few know much about American history that they can be herded to believe any narrative crafted for political gain. While, I am not a practicing Christian, I also find it humorous that many think it ok to desecrate the religious tokens of others because of the supposed racial message it sends. So, beyond pulling down Confederate statues are those of any Caucasian person of history next in line give the rallying flag that they represent products of ‘white’ privilege? Do people really believe that that threats and intimidation will remove racism? I have often suggested while in the natural for world every action is an opposite and equal reaction, but in politics, for every political action there is a doubling of the reaction.... watch and see, things will follow the course of the Law of unforeseen consequences... nobody wins.
Well, we will see. The Dems have piled on with multiple strategies/crises, the Russia Hoax, impeachment, stoking racial unrest, anti policing rhetoric, pushing extreme socialism, and more, much of which stem from ills they blame on Trump. A winning strategy for November? Or, is there a reaction in the wind? Think clearer heads will prevail? I don’t, but then I am a political cynic.
The Pentagon has destroyed more historic buildings and monuments than any other entity ever will. American soldiers loot every country they invade.
The Pentagon did not break ground until 1941, so you must be referring to when we helped level a whole bunch of Europe on our way to stomping Hitler. We were also later honored by those same countries for coming to save them, and they now willingly maintain our cemeteries over there for our war dead. As for "ever will"...? Your tea-leaves-reading skills need work. The Chinese might nuke us at any moment and make our bunker-busters look like firecrackers.
