You call this "taking sides", and imply that is a bad thing? Trump is on the side of law and order. Trump is on the side of protecting cities, property, and the civilized people caught up in this crap. Trump has been clearly opposed to the riots and violence from the very beginning. If only the Democrats had taken the same stance.... Trump is unequivocally on the right side of this issue, so if you want to try to bemoan that he is "taking sides", at least he has chosen the right side. I would choose Trump's "side" any day over that of the rioters, the looters, the BLM, antifa, or any of the Democrats supporting and enabling them.

 

No. I think the guy who killed him should be thrown in jail, just like the cops with George Floyd.

I am just saying that the people involved in the mayhem late at night aren't real protesters on either side. They are looking for a fight.

And Portland seems to have a special class of nuts for some reason.

 

We will know in the not too distant future. If the citizens of these stricken cities CONTINUE to vote Democrat then they WANT bloody and violent and non-stop riots inside their cities. If one absolutely refuse to learn from one's chronic mistake, then it's no longer a mistake; it's a rather twisted life choice.

From what I understand, the majority of the Antifa kids come from very privileged homes. We coddled a generation of youth who were handed everything on a silver platter while they sat on their butts playing video games and getting degrees in "Grievance Studies". Now they think playing violent games in real life and destroying the country is more exhilarating.

 

Correct.

There is no difference in attitude towards authority between suburbia kids who thought that their degrees would make them six figures annually, and people like Jacob Blake who were raised thinking that there were no consequences for ignoring authority.

Both are entitled and feel like they're allowed to do whatever it is that THEY want to do. They have been taught that being louder and being more aggressive is the way to get authority to back down, because that's how they controlled their parents. They haven't listened to authority their entire lives, and they're likely not going to start now.

 

Trump took a side against the Democrat leaders in Congress, not against citizen voters. I'm okay with that.
Trump has voiced strong opposition very specifically against the Antifa/BLM rioters/looters destroying property. I'm okay with that.

This morning, Trump's Tweets are taking the side of Trump supporters and counter-protesters over left-wing protesters, pitting citizen against citizen on a more general level. I am not in favor of the president picking a side when it comes to the more general population. That's very close to Hillary calling Trump voters, "a basket of deplorables". If anything cost Hillary the election, it was attacking half the country to take sides with the other half.

These two posts are specifically insulting to half the country, particularly the video clip of Trump supporters shooting paint balls and pepper spray at people on the street who legitimately look like the more peaceful protesters in this instance. Trump should have called out those guys shooting stuff at people from the bed of their truck instead of saying this isn't "unexpected"....or just not Tweeted that video at all.

 

Lots of folks headed for Portland right now. Not good.

The FBI has identified white supremacist groups like the Proud Boys to be domestic terrorists and the sooner they are dealt with the sooner our nation can begin to heal and reunite again.

 

Mayor Wheeler sent a letter to Trump saying he didn't want federal assistance...and hypocritically accusing the president of "playing politics" as if he is not doing the same or worse. Wheeler obviously needs assistance right now. Good grief. Antifa/BLM are taking advantage of his weakness as a leader, occupied the lobby of Wheeler's high-rise apartment, and set fire to the Police Union Building again.

Obviously they were PROVOKING the protesters into VIOLENCE which definitely is NOT a mentally sane or rational thing to do.
