    THURSDAY, Aug. 13, 2020 (HealthDay News) -- Diverging from much of the world, Sweden let COVID-19 spread in hopes the population would develop "herd immunity." But the risky strategy failed, a new report finds.

    Rather than imposing a hard lockdown in March as other countries did, the Scandinavian nation relied on individual responsibility to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus. This is the idea of "folkvett" -- common sense of the people -- and the approach made headlines at the time.

    Gyms, stores and restaurants remained open; schools were open for kids up to age 16; while gatherings of more than 50 people were banned.

    Authorities predicted that 40% of the people in Stockholm would get the disease and develop protective antibodies by May. The actual prevalence, however, was around 15%, according to the study published Aug. 11 in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

    They were trying for only 40% in STOCKHOLM alone...and failed miserably even at that.

    And all it cost was thousands dead for no appreciable gain

    They certainly did speak positively of herd immunity as is evident from my article.

    I don't think data from May. which is referenced in your article, is relevant at this time.

    Let me repeat that.

    All they achieved was 15% in STOCKHOLM

    Stockholm is a city of 1 million in a nation of 10 million.

    NOT EVEN CLOSE

    And most medical experts put herd immunity at NOT 40%...but 60% or more ...over a WHOLE NATION

    PubublishedAug11th but quoting data from May. They predicted 40% immunity inMay but found only 15% with antibodies. However,my original article claims that twice as many are in fact immune than show antibody immunity due to t-Cell immunity. That would put the number immune in May at 30%, not so far off from the predicted 40%.

    Not too shabby, considering that they are idiots.

    Well, they only tested in Stockholm. if Covid cases doubled since May, there is your herd immunity

    That was dumb. One of the reasons we are getting a vaccine so quickly (meaning 2021) is that we had been studying corona viruses.

    Sheesh.

    There are real problems, industrial agriculture being chief among them.

    Was that a conspiracy theory, I will be disappointed of it is.

    No, it refuted your baseless accusation that the May data was in fact after may.

    Their current numbers are no better than their neighbors Denmark, Finland, and Norway... with comparable economic harm to each and much higher death rate than those neighbors.

    None of those countries have come anywhere near herd immunity and you have provided no one Biden ever to the contrary

    Fauci, Redfield and Tedros and Gates are not Swedish. They are the ones responsible for this disaster.

    That does not mean Trump is an innocent man. It simply means that Fauci & Friends are responsible for what we have today.
