And how do they get the voter to turn over their ballot? What is your evidence that this is happening on any sort of significant scale, if at all?

What is the purpose of unsolicited ballots being distributed?

According to the left the purpose was making voting easier and safer for voters. According to the right the purpose was making ballot harvesting and election fraud easier. Take your pick.

Seeing as there is no evidence of significant election fraud, the "choice" is pretty easy.

Thanks for the laugh, but that still doesn't answer my question

Yes. Usually there are drop off boxes if you think that is safer than the mail.
But having said that; I'm pretty old and I don't remember ever having a problem losing anything in the mail.

Did you deliberately change it from unsolicited ballots to just ballots? Or was it just yet another pathetic dodge? Read the title - "what is the purpose of UNSOLICITED ballots being distributed?" Why don't you try answering that question, if you are even remotely capable of doing so.

How the hell is that so? That makes no sense.

I guess democracy works in whatever way you say it works! :roflol:

Well there's nothing wrong with ballots UPON REQUEST.

They aren't unsolicited. You said you wanted to vote when you registered.

Doesn't each ballot have to be matched to a registered voter?

    Why do you mention that?

    What, you mean unsolicited ballots?

Which is why people are free to request a ballot in the mail.

"Change"? The purpose of all the ballots is the same! You're the one making up some sort of "difference".

Well... Republicans make no sense. But it is a fact that Republicans tend to do better when the turn out is lower. It is "common wisdom" that Republicans pray that it rains on election day. Maybe the fact that there are more registered Democrats than Republicans (in the states where there is registration) is the reason. This is why Democrats favor "Get out the vote" initiatives, and Republicans are more for voter suppression.

I am a registered voter DO NOT send me my ballot in the mail and it is totally UNNECESSARY. 100,000 ballots sent out in New York with the wrong names on the return ballots. The LAST thing I want is some government official in charge of and handling my ballot.

I don't think you need to worry about it in Bama. You'll be lucky if you don't need to drive 50 miles to vote.

It's not a matter of luck we actually have cities down here too, You ought to visit us sometime and see we actually have paved roads and wear shoes.

Now up until oh about 6 years ago I would drive out my neighborhood taking a left and in about 100 yards drive right past a polling place. Yep just right by that baby because I could not vote there. That polling place was for a gerrymandered majority black voting district and I could not vote there. Gerrymandered under provisions of a federal judge order to create a district based on a race. And I lived just a street over from the district line and the neighborhoods you know intermeshed and no one really "saw" a line there but when the people on the one side of the line just drove up front to the main street they voted right there and the ones on the others side had to go a few miles down the road to where they could vote. Kinda strange since our concerns with the city were not divided by some invisible line that was drawn to separate us. So when the SCOTUS said those provisions of the VRA that require federal pre approval which were supposed to expire back in the 1970's not longer applied like all the rest of the cities in America our local officials said everyone in the two district are one district and everyone votes at the civic center and we are less divided.

NO, don't send one out with my name on it, it is UNNECESSARY and I do NOT want government officials or third parties handling a ballot with my name associated with it and I don't want one floating around in the postal service,

You know, I have asked people with the kind of grossly uninformed viewpoint you both seem to share, to tell me why it might be that here in Oregon where we've had mail-in voting for 22 years and each year the Republicans in our House and Senate try really really really hard to "prove" the system leads to cheating and fraud, but in 22 years they have only been completely unsuccessful. They cannot show any real evidence that vote-by-mail is more troubled by fraud than in-person voting is. So my question to you two is "why is that?" And in the interest of honesty and basic integrity, if you can't provide, ...not a guess, but CONFIRMABLE FACTS, to show our system and that of Washington are actually rife with fraud, you are obliged by common decency to STOP claiming vote-by-mail invites cheating and fraud. Otherwise you would be acting in service to Russia.

Then why have the Republicans in our state government FAILED to prove fraud and cheating?
