As for the 'heart attacks' thing, why is that news? COVID absolutely causes such events. Strokes, too.

We already know that mortality is higher for certain preexisting conditions, so how is this OANN "report" inconsistent with what we already know?

I'm pretty sure that someone who has pneumonia and catches covid is more likely to die than someone with pneumonia alone.

Can you give any examples of partisan actions taken by the CDC? I'm not aware of any. They seem to be serious scientists to me.

OANN cited the CDC in the headline, and a CDC admission against interest and bias is especially credible.

We're imposing restrictions designed to contain the spread of a lethal virus. These restrictions are imposed by the states and localities. You and I are under a different set of rules, so there is no "we."

These restrictions affect different people, groups and businesses in different ways. It's just the nature of the beast.

Yes, we are trying to save lives. That's what we do. If a cancer patient's home catches fire, would you not attempt to save her?

There's one number that the virus deniers can't explain away and that's the large increase in the normal death rate in countries all over the world in every single month since the pandemic struck.
If you are interested in the truth, compare the normal death rate in the US for all medical causes for each month during the past 5 or 10 years to the heightened death rate for each month during the pandemic.
The excess death rate is the best barometer of what has happened.
And in the US, a lot of the excess death rate is because of trump's incompetence and self-centered approach to his duty.
Let's hope people remember that when they go to vote.

What does that mean? It's possible that it means someone who suffered an injury would have survived if not for covid. That seems to be the theme. Sure, diabetes may kill some people five years from now, but covid caused it to kill them now.

 

This just proves how pointless the quarantine is. The only people who need to be careful with WuFlu are exact same people who need to be careful with regular flu.

If someone has terminal cancer and is rapidly deteriorating - what difference would that make? I’ve known a few people who died of cancer - they manage to be fairly stable for quite a while, but when they start to turn to worse it takes surprisingly short period of time for them to die, and there is absolutely nothing you, or anyone else out there, can do about it.

 

The left is fond of gilding the lily. People should be used to their over dramatic arguments and accusations by now. I am fairly desensitized to them. It is like when they try to blame the US for every death that occurred in Iraq or Afghanistan when it suited them even if the death was a child that choked to death on a lamb kabob---but for the US invasion that child wouldn't have died prematurely!!!!!

We all could have done better--the POTUS, congress, the governors, mayors, businesses, and individuals. I just hope that when this is calmed down, serious minds take a serious look at how to build a better system both legally and on the ground to deal with these things in the future, including bolstering hospital inventories and national stockpiles. So far, I am guessing this mysterious alleged Obama pandemic book the democrats keep talking about is mostly nonsense in light of the facts have they have unfolded.
