Rep. Jamie Raskin opened up day #2 of Trump's Impeachment Senate trial with a devastating argument. See it here; and if you believe the defense argument that Pres. Trump was just exercising his free-speech rights, I urge you to, challenge you to-- if you have any capacity for impartial thought.

Raskin explains that Trump was doing far worse than shouting, "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. He was like the town fire chief, who was paid to put out fires, sending a mob to go down to the theater & set it ablaze.

While Rep. Adam Schiff was very eloquent at the last Impeachment trial, the overall team, this time, seems much better-spoken.

 

Yes, I watched it on MSNBC, and here are my thoughts, for what they are worth. Overwhelming evidence supporting the charge in the article of impeachment will be presented and it won't matter. I see no way that 17 Republican senators vote to impeach. They just don't have the stones. Another sad day thanks to the Trump presidency and gutless Republicans.

 

I've been watching it. Strong stuff. I wonder how many trumpers have been or are watching it. I hope they're proud!

 

Plaskett's presentation is jaw dropping.... I really didn't know about half of what she is saying...

If there is a turning point in this trial, this is it....

You'll never convict on "Stop the Steal" tweets, but this link with the threats of violence is stunning...

If that was Trump's intention, I assure you, there wouldn't have been a crowd entering the capitol building staying between the ropes in single file line, who then turned and left when asked to.

IF Trump's intention was to incite a riot, then he is the least persuasive cult leader I've ever seen.

If you're not an NBA follower, fans like to make highlight videos. The belief around the league was that James Harden could not play defense. To support that belief, people would make highlight reels of him falling asleep on defense or giving up on plays or watching people go past him or not giving effort.

But the truth was that he was one of the league leaders in steals per game several years in a row. His low post defense was elite, tops in the league.

The reality is that he was somewhere in between. He wasn't a great defender, but he could certainly hold his own.

My point is, you can make a highlight video showing anything and it'll look damn convincing. The Dude Perfect videos are a good example. Are they making every 500ft shot, or did they try the shot 3000 times and finally hit it.

My opinion is, he didn't say anything more egregious than several Democrat Senators. If you want to charge him, fine, but charge them, too. I've got no problem with that.

Remember how pissed and defensive people got when we saw video after video of mobs of people looting stores in the name of equality all summer?

The GOP Senate ALREADY Has Their Minds made up, and Trump will be acquitted.

 

The problem here is that you can't get a conviction on a hypothesis(actually, well, let me properly phrase that: Legally, you can't get a conviction on a hypothesis) but in this political sham trial, you very well could. The Senate has no possible outs for what they've done to themselves. Either people will be pissed that the Senate "didn't do the right thing and convicted/removed Trump's political rights", or the Senate does vote to convict and makes Trump a political pariah.

The idiots are absolute morons, all their screaming about defending the institutions and no less than a month they damaged the Senate.

 

The error in your analogy is that all the video is TIME-STAMPED. Therefore, it is not pulling together broadly-separated events & artificially putting them in close proximity to one another. The time of each event is very clearly indicated.

That is a false equation. There is no way to see what is happening at various places, at the same time, without using numerous sources of footage, & editing them together. Rather than misrepresenting the event, this os the ONLY WAY to get a look at the FULL PICTURE.

If this is merely propaganda, how do you explain the Capitol police who suffered brain injuries, lost sight/eye, lost fingers, & one death-- clumsiness?

 

My understanding of the argument being presented by the prosecution (and the establishment left in general)- the guy with the 'cult' following of at least 70 million people 'incited' a hundred or so people to 'insurrect'.

Even without the proven fact that the vast majority who answered the call and showed up to protest were peaceful, and even without the extreme likelyhood (I can't call it a 'fact' because most ppl only see what the biased media reports) that many (not all, leave ur strawmen at home) of the violent were false-flag agent provacateurs, its still very weaksauce.

That being said, this is a sham-show. The 'verdict' will be whatever our elite political class think they can get away with without inciting a real insurrection. There is no law or justice anymore, only mob rule with a ruling class leading the hyperemotionally vulnerable around with psychological warfare.

Believe me, your outlook is the last thing I would ask for. Watching the sequence of events we were able to understand why the trumper crowd is referred to as a cult.
