The United States conducted a military airstrike in eastern Syria along the border with Iraq on Thursday night targeting Iranian-backed militias in retaliation for a recent rocket strike in Erbil in northern Iraq that left several Americans injured, according to the Pentagon.

The airstrike targeted structures in the eastern Syrian town of Al Bukamal that belong to two Iranian-backed militias that have launched rocket attacks in the past against American facilities in Iraq, including the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, according to a U.S. official.

"At President Biden's direction, U.S. military forces earlier this evening conducted airstrikes against infrastructure utilized by Iranian-backed militant groups in eastern Syria," John Kirby, Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement issued Thursday night.

I support this. I've always been somewhat of a hawk regarding defensive actions. This is the proper military response, as opposed to Trump's assassination of Soleimani. The right will continue to slander Biden as being soft on Iran, but he obviously is not. Joe has made his presence known to Iran and his message is clear.

What will the progressive doves say about this activity? Your opinions?

These were tactical airstrikes, not weapons sales to Saudi Arabia. That was Trump. Biden is tough on Iran. Tough on Saudi Arabia. Gonna be tough on Putin and Xi as well.

I think it is rather disgusting that people terrified of a glorified flu get to act like heroes when they force other Americans to bomb 3rd world countries for no apparent American interest. If the cowards sending others into danger want the glory, they should risk their own lives for it and not the lives of others.

PRO TIP: There is no such thing as a progressive dove. The doves are all on the right and have been for many years now. The left is war mongering chicken hawks from top to bottom. Enough conservatives have come back in body bags for no apparent reason to sour most of them on stupid wars for billionaire profit.

 

I am generally against military action that is not threatening the US. I wonder how this will compare against the last two presidents in their first two years

Dems are now pro bombing and pro war. We all knew a democratic administration would start some **** over there. Just didn't think it would be only a month after inauguration.

This was my number one prediction for Biden. He has also re-established funding for a terrorist group in Syria so the violence in that country will be ramping up. He will end up killing Assad and completely destabilizing Syria. As a bonus, we will get half a million Syrian refugees out of it.... lots of diversity and inclusion incoming..... and a dramatic rise in Muslim terror attacks on American soil. These jackasses are so easy to read. Weird how Biden didn't run on warmongering.

The "left," by definition, are doves. They prefer diplomacy, which Biden offered as well. Military solutions are right wing by definition. So your post makes no sense, and is strangely concerned with partisan cheering, of which I see none.
