Judge Orders Arizona GOP to Pay Up for Filing ‘Groundless’ Lawsuit Challenging 2020 Election Results

Admittedly, I haven't followed politics all my adult life and only became interested recently because I have children and am concerned about their futures. With that said, I do not recall any time in modern history in which a political figure has been so divisive and antagonistic. I believe these types of cases only work to fuel the animosity and discord.

I am absolutely in favor of full investigations to determine if election fraud happened. I am absolutely against using our court system to wage some imaginary war against an invisible monster nobody, thus far, has been able to identify.

What do you think?

 

Love the poetic justice. I am full agreement that those yahoos who claimed voter fraud with no proof answer up for their actions. Their irresponsible behavior has caused too much BS and it requires a response.

 

There is a reason that more than 58 judges, the supreme courts of 3 states and the US Supreme court all said there was nothing there. The SCOTUS even kept the option to readdress some of the cases after the election and choose not to.

There is a reason why when the Wisc Supreme court said "ok, show us what you have" the Trump legal team said 'no, we have changed our minds"

There is also a reason why when Repubs held "hearings" nobody was sworn in and why the Trump team used fake experts as witnesses.

That's true, but it is still kind of irrelevant considering how US Presidential Elections are carried out. The "party" here who is actually responsible for administering the election is not the same "party" which would decide the validity of the election.
If the judge's interpretation of legal doctrine holds, then by separation of that responsibility there would be no way to use the civil court system (use a lawsuit) to compel authorities to reexamine the outcome of an election.
It doesn't seem to make logical sense there, and this legal reasoning seems asinine.

You do not order an investigation just because someone doesn't like the result. You need predication, you need evidence.

So far, none has been provided to any court. All we have seen is accusations that 'dems stole the election'. The entire attack on the capitol was motivated by that idea, yet not one substantive piece if evidence that supports that claim has been provided in any of the 60 lawsuits that were filed.

In my view, vexatious litigants should be fined, and fined heavily. I commend the judge for making the accusers pay court costs for their frivolous lawsuit.

 

They found a Clinton judge, who got the point and missed the point, all in one shot. This judge is an idiot or a hack partisan.

The lawsuit was brought because of massive public distrust with new, unverifiable, and untraceable voting measures forced into place by Democrats, using Covid-19 as an excuse. It would have been crazy for a lawsuit to not have been brought. The public has a right to know their elections are free and fair. Millions still maintain rightful concern that the Democrats are pushing for: voting without ID's, millions of ballots without a chain of custody, or verified signatures. The Republicans would have been negligent to not bring the suit.
