Gimmie Earth Orbit no more wasting bytes on suborbital. BTW What provisions do either have for Space Sickness vomit? Moi
Jeff Bezos, 3 others land safely after flight to space with Blue Origin https://www.axios.com/jeff-bezos-sp...lert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=alerts_all A perfect flight. Reusable rocket. They left no debris. The beginning of a new era......... He chose his companions well. Brilliant.

Population is a function of economic development. Had it not been for the US and Britain, Earth's population would have peaked 20 years ago. As it stands, Earth can easily handle 60 Billion people, but your population will peak at about 16-17 Billion before declining to 12-14 Billion. We? You mean Asian States? ZERO and 1st Level Economies require no education, but do require vast amounts of labor, including child labor, in order to function and survive. Once you move into the 2nd Level Economy, it requires more education, which delays both marriage and child-birth and results in natural decrease in the birth-rate. The 3rd and 4th Level Economies require even more education and that ultimately reduces the birth-rate to -1.0% to 1.0%. The US should have entered the 5th Level Economy (R&D) in the mid-to-late 1990s, but failed because public education is a botched abortion. What that means is that 18-20% of your jobs should be R&D, which pays a helluva lot more than operating a Nissei plastic injection molding machine making kitchen gadgets. Once you're an advanced mature 5th Level Economy, the 6th Level is space exploration and not merely for the purpose of natural resources, but for education and technological advancement.
There's no relationship, and even if there was, technology would hinder human evolution. Evolution occurs when a gene mutates naturally or via coercion. The "mutation" is actually the ejection of one or more orbiting electrons by ionizing radiation -- UV-A, UV-B, UV-C, hard/soft x-rays, hard/soft gammas, protons, neutrons or fission fragments -- within a gene's nuclear structure. That either destroys or causes the creation of something new as the Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, etc atoms recombine. That effectively re-writes the gene's instructions on replication. As a result, one of three things will happen: 1) the organism dies in utero; 2) the organism fails to reach sexual maturity; or 3) the organism reaches sexual maturity. If the organism reaches sexual maturity, the process of Natural Selection begins. The new organism will either thrive in its environment or it won't. If it doesn't, the process ends, but if it successfully reproduces, the mutation is passed on. Natural Selection does not cause a bird's feathers to change color from brown to red, but a mutation does. Natural Selection only determines whether or not the mutation is successfully spread through a given population. The size of the population determines how long/how many generations it takes for the mutation to exist in all living members of the species. Earth's atmosphere was 74% Nitrogen and 26% CO2, meaning 26,000 ppm CO2 for 2.5 Billion years without a "runaway greenhouse" destroying Earth. Absent the Ozone Layer, and with vast quantities of radio-isotopes in Earth's crust, the radiation levels were so deadly you'd only survive 20-30 minutes. In Earth's oceans, due to the high levels of radioactivity, there were probably an Octillion mutations which ultimately produced cyano-bacteria. Cyano-bacteria ultimately mutated to engage in photosynthesis, consuming CO2 and producing O2 and so with an extraordinarily large number of cyano-bacteria, the Great Oxygenation Event began and lasted for about 500 Million years. During that time, CO2 levels decreased from 26,000 ppm to 10,000 ppm. The O2 produced bonded with reactive metals dissolved in the oceans like Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, etc and precipitated out producing the Iron bands found in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Canada, Australia and South Africa that are visible today. Once the reactive metals precipitated out, the oceans became saturated with O2 and it started leaching into the atmosphere. It killed anaerobic bacteria by the TRILLIONs until one mutated to be able to tolerate O2 and then eventually mutated to use O2 as part of its cellular metabolism. That's the second reason why we're here. If you notice, there's a relationship between various organisms' life-span, sexual maturity, gestational period, and number of offspring that is pyramid-shaped. Compare the number of elephant species to the number of flies, or certain genus of fish. There are only two elephant species, African and Asian (formerly Indian, but that wasn't politically correct enough.) African and Asian elephants reach sexual maturity at 12 and 14 years respectively, have a 10 month gestation period and only produce one calf. Contrast that with a fly that lives 24 hours, starts reproducing an hour after hatching and produces 1,000s of larvae every few hours until it dies, or with a fish that produces 1,000s of eggs each year of its life. Now you can understand why some orders and families have tremendous diversity of species while others have little to no diversity and their species are few in number. Like horses. There's only 3 horses. All the other horses are result of selective breeding. There's only 4 different cows. All the others are the result of selective breeding. Over time, the natural background radiation, meaning cosmic/solar radiation and the decay of radio-isotopes has decreased, which reduces the odds/chances of a mutation which slows Evolution. You no longer roam outdoors across the savannas. You live indoors and are transported in a variety of vehicles that shield you from natural background radiation, so Human Evolution is practically at a standstill. If we relied on natural mutation only, none of us would be here. The only on Earth would be a few varieties of bacteria and perhaps some colonial single-celled organisms. You could certainly use technology to coerce mutations in humans to force Evolution, but that would require a thorough and complete understanding of DNA and how genes function and it would be several centuries before that happens.
By 'we' I mean humans. Not all, of course, but we should view the colonization of space as just as important as protecting the environment and feeding the hungry, because it can eventually solve both.
It can go either way. With nuclear war we could be back to one billion. With the plethora of life-extension technologies we could go to a hundred billion.
Ah... Marxist environmentalists. Go to the former Soviet Union and see how they handled their environment. No checks and balances and environmental studies there... When you see city smog, oil rigs or plumes coming from coal-fired power stations think of people, not the few who run them. All this is caused by the people who want to own a car, turn on the gas, flick a light switch. And in the 'third world' people want coal - not the share holders of coal companies.
Tis true the wealthy elites of the world that own the dirtiest industry also tend to push communism. For us, of course, not themselves. ...not sure why you're going on about coal. Our (US) coal plants scrub out everything except plant food. Smog is a problem where too many people have jumbled themselves together. We should be looking for ways to keep our population more evenly dispersed to prevent things like smog and pandemics. Fedgov has a crapton of land that could be useful for that...
First all-amateur space crew splashes down in the Atlantic off Florida, ending SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission " The mission, a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, carried four people, none of whom had been to space previously. On board were Jared Isaacman, 38; Sian Proctor, 51; Chris Sembroski, 42; and Hayley Arceneaux, 29." https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...9.RccS9E0ItQoJt9Y9rMV-EIb9pW9HIRjLcBdyChXQpak Spectacular , precise, splashdown.!! Welcome back to planet earth ! Congratulations on a very successful mission.
They always have, starting with the Bolsheviks. The NYC and London Banksters who financed the Bolshevik Revolution – The Millennium Report China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Venezuela were no different... Communist Revolutions always follow a massive influx of finances, political intrigue and support from covert intelligence agencies that can all be traced back to wealthy western industrialists, like John D Rockefeller, for example, who famously said "Competition is a sin." This, of course, after he had acheived effective monopoly in the oil industry. One of the fundamental results of communism is that it stifles all competition and replaces it with the state deciding who wins and who loses (under the guise of 'distributing equality' of course). Communisn has never been effective at eliminating the priveledged class. In fact, every time its been tried, it results in a tiny ruling class with all the resources and all the power dolling them out to the masses on an 'as needed' basis, with the 'need' of course defined by those in power. What wealthy elitist control freak wouldn't enjoy being on top of that? Its worth noting that many of these same 'banksters' financed the Nazi's rise to power as well. Most of them backed out after he 'went rogue' and tried to take the world from them instead of for them.
Yes, everyone wanted the Nazis to succeed, given the way Germany collapsed in the 1930's. But it all boils down to HOW LONG DID YOU SUPPORT THE NAZIS. If it's true Rockerfeller claimed competition is a sin then it would only been when he gained a monopoly - then it's different. Same today with Google and Facebook.
Hows it different? No one ever attains a monopoly in order to give people more freedom of choice... only competition results in that.
Rockerfeller would have been quite happy for competition in the early days of kerosine and petroleum because he wanted in on the action too. But when he controlled 90% of the industry then he didn't want any competition. That's natural. Facebook doesn't want another Facebook, nor does Amazon want a new Amazon.
Is that in some alternate Universe or are you writing a science-fiction novel? Your lack of knowledge of things-nuclear is disturbing. The people of Oceania, South America and Africa will survive just fine. So will the majority of people in Eastern Europe (at least for now.) You do realize that it all takes is 3 well-placed 400-750 kt warheads detonated at an altitude of 85 miles and the US will be in the Stone Age for about a century or so, right? 320 Million Americans will be dead within 180 days due to accident, injury, illness, disease, starvation, dehydration, violence or their own hand. Even if the US could figure out who done it, the world won't be engulfed in a nuclear war, and even if the US launched a retaliatory strike against China or Russia, it wouldn't kill that many.
I understand what you are saying. Been reading about the greatest bombing in history - Tokyo. The two nuclear ones were rather small, sudden and didn't effect the underground infrastructure such as water and sewerage. But a nuclear war can shut down services, destroy infrastructure, effect local climate etc - things way outside the blast zones. No-one is going to worry about your diabetes when this happens. Better eat what's in your darkened fridge quickly. Can you open a tin of canned food without your electric tin opener? It's going to be cold and at night - very dark. There's nothing in the supermarkets. Forget about hospitals.

William Shatner, 90, is going to space next week on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin rocket " William Shatner, the 90-year-old actor who played Captain James T. Kirk in “Star Trek,” will blast off from Texas on Oct. 12, making him the oldest person to travel to space, Blue Origin announced Monday. Unlike the Enterprise’s five-year mission, Shatner’s trip will carry him to space for just a few minutes." https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture...rwLJZbIZsm5WbUFqzqZOkmZbLNFOw6hfsCbEXIgEAAA== Good for him. At 90 yoa too.
Proof positive of alien invasion and infiltration! They were snatching people all these years and finally were able to copy one close enough to appear human. We're on to you "Mircea", or whatever your alien name actually is!
