Fox News Contributors Call It Quits Over Tucker Carlson’s Jan. 6 Propaganda

Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg, two longtime contributors on Fox News who were fine with the misinformation the network has peddled up until now, announced yesterday on their right-wing media site that they’re leaving Fox because “the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible.”

    • Hayes and Goldberg pointed directly at Tucker Carlson’s Fox Nation “documentary” on the Jan. 6 Capitol attack that fully aims to whitewash the events of that day. The ex-contributors called it a “collection of incoherent conspiracy-mongering, riddled with factual inaccuracies, half-truths, deceptive imagery, and damning omissions.”
    • Carlson’s documentary is just the worst example of a “longstanding trend” of Fox twisting facts to suit Trump’s agenda, Hayes and Goldberg wrote.
    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/morni...ibutors-quit-tucker-carlson-jan-6-documentary

Once in a while some of the contributors to the alternate reality being pushed at Faux feel the need to disassociate themselves from the network when the lies become too outrageous. This was the case for Hayes and Goldberg when Carlson put together his propaganda piece on the Jan. 6 riot.

It is a travesty, and a danger to the republic, that so many Americans get their news from Faux, who lies to them each and every day.

I'm sure Hayes and Goldberg will be called out as leftists before too long...

They will probably be replaced by some of Carlson's friends.

I agree that they have become a clear and present danger. Right wingers in general have become lost in a wilderness of mirrors. Seditious, secessionist, lusting for vigilante violence, paranoid about everything, they are not fit to govern or lead anymore and wherever they do, they quickly bring everyone else down to their level.

Most Fox contributors and pundits who have quit, said they thought they could change the station and transform it into a serious news brand. There are still a few trying to do that, but they are losing the war.

Fox viewers don't want facts. They want to hear Trump being praised, and reality suppressed. The type of pseudo-journalism that has made Tucker Carlson the extreme right's favorite.

It’s amazing to me. I have recognized Jan 6 as a bad thing. I won’t recognize it as Trumps fault because he specifically said to go peacefully protest. But a few took it overboard for sure.

But the same people who talk down fox for lying will back up MSM lies about the Russian dossier and Kyle Rittenhouse’s case. Those other news agencies hold no high ground on fox.

That's the pattern. Anyone on the Right who acknowledges the Trump inspired madness has gone too far is immediately marginalized.

It isn't even just the Fox story. We only need to look at McCarthy's 8 hour tirade to see the irrational spin. He ignores basic facts and makes up whatever narrative suits him, his party and Trump best. A little fact checking will reveal that, but many won't take that time or effort.

Another example is Cawthorn, telling followers to be "armed, dangerous and moral" following the Rittenhouse verdict. How can that be seen as responsible?

Yep. Orange Jesus just cut them off his Christmas card list and will call Santa to let him know they've been naughty this year. ;-)

Countdown to a manifesto from OJ wishing them into the cornfield.

Yeah, and rioters went to riot on the message of BLM, are they responsible for those riots?

It's not binary. For example, MSNBC can have an political perspective from the left but not produce the kind of overt propaganda Faux does.

I was not referring to the media as the primary subject. I was referring to those who chose to riot, and what influenced them. If you are going to hold Fox News responsible, then you need to hold BLM responsible also.

“I lie. If I'm really cornered or something, I lie. I really try not to. I try never to lie on TV. I just don't, you know, I don't like lying. I certainly do it, you know, out of weakness or whatever,” Tucker Carlson

Why We Are Leaving Fox News

A case in point: Patriot Purge, a three-part series hosted by Tucker Carlson.

The special—which ran on Fox’s subscription streaming service earlier this month and was promoted on Fox News—is presented in the style of an exposé, a hard-hitting piece of investigative journalism. In reality, it is a collection of incoherent conspiracy-mongering, riddled with factual inaccuracies, half-truths, deceptive imagery, and damning omissions. And its message is clear: The U.S. government is targeting patriotic Americans in the same manner —and with the same tools—that it used to target al Qaeda.

“The domestic war on terror is here. It’s coming after half of the country,” says one protagonist. “The left is hunting the right, sticking them in Guantanamo Bay for American citizens—leaving them there to rot,” says another, over video of an individual in an orange jumpsuit being waterboarded.

This is not happening. And we think it’s dangerous to pretend it is. If a person with such a platform shares such misinformation loud enough and long enough, there are Americans who will believe—and act upon—it.

Given that Carlson's special is a...In reality, it is a collection of incoherent conspiracy-mongering, riddled with factual inaccuracies, half-truths, deceptive imagery, and damning omissions.

why hasn't he been suspended or fired?

Because that is the kind of programming Faux's management wants

It was. In reality, it is a collection of incoherent conspiracy-mongering, riddled with factual inaccuracies, half-truths, deceptive imagery, and damning omissions.

That's a business move to keep the Faux audience entertained with increasingly deceitful disinformation.
