“The civil court case in Connecticut focused on how the firearm used by the Newtown shooter - a Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle - was marketed, alleging it targeted younger, at-risk males in marketing and product placement in violent video games. In one of Remington's ads, it features the rifle against a plain backdrop and the phrase: “Consider Your Man Card Reissued.””

As for violence the concept is referred to as martial masculinity or proving one’s manhood through acts of violence.

Oh, I see. You hate men. We get it. I'm not used to manhaters so I forgot, momentarily, how far crazy society has gone. Gees am I glad I escaped NY and CA.

Are all uses of firearms "violent"? Did the marketing instruct people to be "violent"?

That's good marketing to convince a middle-aged single mom to buy a gun to get her man card.

Does getting one's "man card" require illegal violent acts against one's fellow citizens?

Oh! Dear! Oh! Dear! Oh! Dear!

Once again ample evidence of a massive misinformation campaign run in America

let us look at some facts

Who’s is most likely to rape women

    upload_2022-2-18_8-23-52.jpeg

A vast majority of rapes are by someone known to the victim

    upload_2022-2-18_8-28-31.png

And the tragedy is that women are more likely to buy a gun and be shot by that same gun

there is no shortage of guns in the military and yet…
    upload_2022-2-18_8-32-27.jpeg

Now why are the rape statistics not higher in those countries with gun restrictions?

No but the misinformation spread by the NRA and its armaments industry backers have increased gun violence in America

Watch “How to Sell a Massacre”

They were caught ON TAPE explains how they have manipulated the American public

Gun violence has been falling since 1990, only very recently seeing increases.

More people are murdered every single year by someone using just hands and feet than have ever been killed in a mass shooting by a shooter using an AR-15 in 58 years.

    Absolute bovine excrement.
You have no hope whatsoever of proving this to be true.

NRA conducts safety courses, increases awareness. Anyone that says the NRA ENCOURAGES violence... is a little off the deep end. While there IS BLM and Antifa that openly call for killing cops, few organizations call for violence. But there's nothing mysterious there, nothing to interpret. BLM and Antifa are proponents of violence quite openly. NRA is all about safety.

NRA USED to be about safety - now they are just a gun manufacturers lobby - that's why I dropped my membership years ago.
Now I give my Money to Ducks Unlimited.

In this day of Antifa and BLM burning towns and cities, stores being gang looted, violence on the rise in blue cities everywhere, and all the rest. Guns need a lobby like water needs a lobby. Everyone needs it.

It can yes. Similar beliefs and behaviors are found in terrorists and criminals. Why do you think Gangs glamorize guns?

I will say yes. All uses of the gun require some form of violence. Especially since we know gun ownership is tied to domestic abuse.

Can you send me a link to that "man card" thing? Methinks you made that up.

I have no idea what gangs glamorize. I don't know anyone in a gang and I didn't know that gangs advertized. Where do you live that you know so much about gangs? Certainly not in MY neighborhood.

I use my gun for competition. There's nothing like loading up the family and driving out into the boonies with a picnic basket... have some fun competition... fresh air... its great stuff. Its relaxing too... much like sailing.

So tell me just how gun ownership is going to stop gang looting in stores? Shootout at Macy's?
I support the right to own guns, but let's not be stupid about what they can, and cannot do.

This is where I got the quote from. And I study political violence with a focus on the intersections of women, feminism and violence.

The NRA is still the world's largest source of gun safety instruction for civilians.

And what is the competition ultimately for? Why do you go to it? How does it relax you? What effect does it have on others near you?

There's not much I can do to protect Macy's... but I sure can protect my own home. When Macy's and the other stores run out of goods... homes will be next.

So target shooting, clay sports, competition, long distance shooting - that's all gun violence?

Violent men are tied to domestic abuse.

Competition is always fun. That' why we play basketball... baseball... football... even chess. Competition is uplifting in all its forms.

To shoot guns as accurately and/or quickly as possible, typically for a score to compare your performance to your previous performance or to others. What is competition typically for?

Because I can't shoot in my back yard. Because it's fun.

A full day of 3 gun tires me out, so I guess that's a form of relaxation. Precision shooting requires calm to perform well, so you have to start relaxed.

We're all there for the same thing. What affect is it supposed to have on those near me?

Most people that question the value of competition have never experienced the thrill of ecelling at anything. Having to explain the value of competition to someone says that your target audience never won a race, never entered a sporting contest and won... heck... never even won a spelling bee. And talking to such a LUMP rarely provides any rewards.
