Are we in agreement about a possible solution? A UN peace keeping force?

It is hard to say. There is no point in peacekeepers if Ukraine has signed the Minsk agreements that lead to de-escalation. Those. Ukraine has committed itself to stop shelling, withdraw weapons, and so on.

How can peacekeepers help in this case? Force Ukraine to comply with the treaty? France and Germany were guarantors of these conditions.
The result is null. The introduction of peacekeepers would de facto mean that they had to fight the neo-Nazis in Ukraine. That is why Ukraine did not want peacekeepers.

from the point of view of Ukraine - Donbass is its territory (this opinion was not disputed by anyone except Donbass itself). This is an internal conflict. Civil War.
Putin 4 years ago proposed to bring Peacekeepers to the line of demarcation. Ukraine refused this.

In fact, having finally recognized the independence of Donbass, Russia brought its peacekeepers there. Ukraine ignored this fact and continued shelling. And what do the Peacekeepers do - when they are shot at? Right. start a demilitarization operation.

Ukraine should agree to the terms and then secretly join NATO and tell Russia to **** off.

If the mafia running Ukriane doesn't do a peace deal, Ukraine will no longer exist. This is reality.

I’m sure you are jumping for joy and cheering at the destruction of a sovereign nation being invaded by putin’s stooges. Maybe it won’t exist, but Putin has secured his place with monsters like Hitler and Stalin. I’m sure he is a hero of yours.

All the chicken littles would like to see this happen. Why does West continue to allow this Bastard to live? A no- fly zone should be of immediate importance even if it means going to war with Russia. Enough of this Neville Chamberlain/ King George appeasement that allowed Hitler to do the same things as Putin. I think this invasion of the Ukraine shows that Russia is not as mighty as it pretends to be. As a small runt of a kid I found that bully's only understand one thing, a good humiliation and ass kicking by a smaller foe. At present the cost of this war is costing each of us $8.21 a day on average. Many may not be concerned now but when everyone cuts back on their going out to restaurants, vacation travel, grocery items etc. the lay offs will start coming. My wife wrote a check to Samaritan Purse to help feed the refugees. It isn't much but it's more than I see our leaders doing to combat the bully.

That is hardly the only reason the US wouldn't like the deal.

Those peace terms are a sure sign that Putin is losing and will end up capitulating.

He is giving up being able to get water into Crimea, controlling the shale oil deposits in eastern Ukraine and controlling the pipelines with that offering.

of course the terms are fake anyway, he would not actually capitulate.

Any deal with Putin isn’t worth the paper it is written on.

lol, Putin invaded. Putin is destroying cities, killing civilians, destroying infrastructure. All you have is Russian state propaganda.

your name sounds American, but if you are, you are a traitor to everything America stands for. I’m leaning more towards a Russian with an American name.

yes, there are those who managed to be caught and forced to fight. But not everyone is caught - in Poland there are a lot of Ukrainians of military age who fled from Ukraine.

I note an evolution in the situation: now I hear that Crimea and Donbass can be object of negotiation.
This is interesting. In the meanwhile the Russian aggression should stop. Demilitarization? That's an aggression.
If Russia wanted to act as a peace keeper there was the possibility to send its army to Donbass, no need to invade the whole country.
And also this idea of demilitarize Ukraine to make it become a neutral state is curious [neutral means vulnerable when you've got a border in common with an aggressive power ...].

Russia did just that immediately after it recognized the independence of Donbass. Ukraine continued shelling the region. The army responded to these shellings in the way an army should.
The rhetoric of Ukraine has always been aggressive towards Russia. Their military doctrine spells out the possibility of a war for the Crimea. In its constitution, Ukraine registered entry into NATO. Zelensky even started talking about withdrawing from the Budapest Memorandum, which was regarded by Russia as another aggressive signal.

    Unacceptable for safety
so that such an aggressive country, trained by America to go to war with Russia, would receive an atomic weapon, at least in the form of a dirty bomb. Their leading politicians were already foolish enough to say that they were ready to bomb Moscow with atomic weapons. Even their people march on demonstrations with slogans to kill Russians.

Russia's patience has run out. Neutrality -
does not mean insecure. Finland is an example. But the rejection of neutrality is precisely what makes the country vulnerable. What is visible now.

You can’t secretly join NATO. It’s a treaty that must be ratified. A lot of paperwork and public debate.

If Russians sent entire force into Donbas, instead of entire Ukraine, they’d probably sit on the administrative regional borders now and Putin would be throwing a parade. He wanted to get the whole country and got bogged down in unwinnable war.

Does the proposal state that Ukraine is to demilitarised. If so, that should be rejected. Switzerland is neutral but has an army
