Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock at Oscars 2022 After Joke Gone Wrong

Smith approached the stage after Rock made a joke about the best-actor nominee’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

At Sunday night’s Oscar ceremony, Will Smith shocked the room by approaching the stage and slapping presenter Chris Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about Smith’s wife, actor Jada Pinkett Smith.

Rock was on the Oscar stage to present the award for best documentary. He began by making a few jokes about members of the show’s audience, including Pinkett Smith—referring to her as “G.I. Jane” due to her closely cropped hair. (Pinkett Smith has spoken in the past about her battle with alopecia.) Shortly after Rock made the joke, Smith walked to the stage and slapped the comedian across the face. He then returned to his seat and shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your ****ing mouth.”

At first, watching the telecast, it was unclear whether the assault was a planned bit. But the show’s audio immediately cut out after Smith slapped Rock, then stayed muted as Rock said, “Will Smith just smacked the **** out of me,” while Smith walked away. When Smith yelled from his seat, Rock, still onstage, seemed stunned.


“Wow, dude,” replied Rock “It was a G.I. Jane joke.”

Interesting Oscar's for once! Not really surprised a Star can get away with assaulting people in public. I do however find it odd that Will Smith does nothing about the dudes having sex with his wife, but goes after Chris Rock for a joke. What a weird Oscars!

 

Smith even laughed at the joke at first. IDK what to make of it all TBH especially since this year's ceremony was edited for time for television.

 

Yeah especially since he doesn't go after dudes for sleeping with his wife. Seems like a cuck that picked an easy target.

 

The open handed slap is not the hallmark of a particularly pissed off man. He admits to sleeping around too. Their marriage is apparently not your typical one. Regardless of all that, the whole thing feels a bit fishy.

 

Cried like a baby when he found out live about his wife's affairs. I don't think it's a mutual open relationship. But that's my opinion.

 

That was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen in my life. When he slapped him and walked back to his seat everyone was laughing, and everyone thought it a joke, and it would have stayed that way had he not yelled at Rock “keep my wife’s name out of your F’N mouth” 2 times. That was when it got awkward. Rock was kind of taken =aback at that part, and if you have seen the forge in audio where the sound was live, Rock said something to the effect “it was a joke”….

 

Anything to improve the Oscar’s dismal ratings.

 

2 entertainers being entertaining. what else is new??

it was no doubt a cheap and easy joke from Rock...

but minor compared to insults like Rickles would use on stars ..kinda shows how times have changed

Chris Rock is no Don Rickles

but it does not warrant getting slapped in front what could be the largest TV audience of the year

my guess is that will smith got the last word.. but there will be some repercussions for him at some point

it was truly a classless act by Smith and shows he is another victim of hollywood fame and fortune

but ya gotta give Rock credit for taking it like a man and continuing with the presentation

thankfully, both guys were black

imagine the uproar if one were white and the other was black

a few comedians will leave this alone, but not many in todays insult comedy scene

my guess is Will Smith will be the butt of thousands of jokes from comedians everywhere

Smith is gonna need his big boy pants before this is over

Wasn't a bad joke, for the handful of people who actually got it (probably more in that room than worldwide)

Not remotely as funny as when Amy Schumer asked "did I miss something" a few minutes later....

Then the 1000% irony of Will Smith accepting his award talking (for ****ing ever) about loving people...

Strange night.... Not as strange as La La Land/Moonlight a few years ago, but strange nonetheless....

 

The jokes and memes are already flying. Smith is a man child. It wasn’t even a bad joke. It’s not like she has cancer and she still still looks damn amazing bald. And it’s Chris freakin Rock. If the guy makes a joke about you, feel honored. You know it’s not mean spirited. Smith could’ve whispered in his ear at the after party, “not cool dude, she’s really sensitive about it, ect” and they would have laughed. That’s the mature professional way to handle it.

Smiths have an open relationship cheating on each other, so getting all sensitive about a movie joke is freakin pathetic. And he still gets an award for it, but remember the “Oscars don’t condone violence”. If you don’t condone it you would have not given him the award an hour later. Typical leftist hypocrites.

 

Will is never gonna live this down. What's even funnier is the part about his wife cheating on him will forever be tagged to this event and a reminder that he's a little bitch.

Perhaps you are not aware the award is voted on and decided a long time before the live show?? This isn't American Idol....

 

Not bad, except Smith had to handle a few stairs to get to the stage.... that would be a deal breaker for the seditionist....

 

Smith deserves to have his Oscar revoked, and never invited back.
Of course, knowing the Oscars, next year will probably open with Smith dressed as Muhammad Ali and making a big joke out of it.

I watched the video clip, but prefer similar things I've seen in real life at the Denver Zoo....

There is a different hierarchy of "justice" for celebrities but that has nothing to do with this incident. A police report can't be made and a person can't be arrested if the person that suffered the harm (Rock) will not press charges. This is the primary reason that cops hate getting involved in domestic disputes. The police can't override the victim unless the crime involves an action against "the state".

If it's not this, it's a bunch of dopey truckers aimlessly driving around the DC Beltway, the 9 trillionth thread on inflation or gas prices (I certainly don't mind one of each, but 1 per day per topic seems like a bit much), or a winger opening a thread on T****, then discussing why the liberals seem obsessed with him in that thread...

Those are your primary options most days... this actually seems like a breath of fresh (Prince) air...
