There isn't any, so long as people make the good faith effort to understand what the speaker means. These words have multiple definitions which can result in confusion otherwise, so that effort is required.

And even that doesn't restrict religious freedom. It guards religious freedom. To have religious freedom we need freedom from the other guy's religion being forced upon us.

Absolutely. There are shades of meaning in common usage and in sources one might consider authoritative.

Besides, delving into behavioral science to determine who really belongs to each group and how they make decisions is ridiculous.
Exactly. Christians have been very interested in using the power and dollars of our government to push their religion on those who don't share their beliefs.

Where is their actual concern about religious freedom?

Why are you claiming that I stated there was an effort to restrict religious freedoms in America ? Loopy do land

Reminds me though .. a few of your gems I had yet to respond .. had not opened .. but was intending at one point to open and respond .. no need for that now .. as clearly you were lost down down some magic rabbit hole of your own creation..... nothing to do with anything I said ... but fantasyland it is :)

In #457 you said, "So .. we end up at my definition Agnostics not so ardent in belief .. less likely to take action to restrict religious freedom"

I'm asking what evidence you have of that.

The proposition is that Agnostics less likely to take action to restrict religious freedom than Atheist.

"Assuming" one agrees that Agnostic definition "Not so ardent in belief" relative to Atheist is said definition being used.

Do you have evidence of the contrary position ? .. or are you suggesting balance exists -- no difference ? if not self evident .. albeit with some use of knoggin required .. not so "prima facie" in legallezeee peeezzzzie ..

    A) B) or C) Self Evident .. ? Which you choose .. show teacher that you have tot about it a bit .. and explain your answer.

I'm pointing out that atheism does not mean that one makes one's decisions based on anything about a god or a chance of god, or any other related view.

Those who limit religious views in the USA are at least as likely, if not more likely, to be Christians.

The idea/claim that (X)religious/cosmological perspective does not effect decisions on some level .. to a significant number of individuals within a population of such individuals motivated by X perspective .. .. is proposterous nonsense

random unrelated comment - in some effort to bring theists into the equation goalpost movage

Atheists more likely to infringe religious freedom than Agnostics is the proposition.

Sure. Theists can and sometimes do consult their religion in the way they prefer.

Atheists and agnostics don't do that. If a person doesn't actually believe there is a god, that person is going to make decisions on some other bases not discussed in this thread.

How infringement of religious freedom happens is a different topic.

Don't blame me for your feelings of being infringed upon.

You haven't supported that as being any significant issue in America. And, I pointed out that atheists and agnostics make their decisions in the same way.

You mentioned some sort of threat from atheists, and I'm pointing out that you are WAY off the mark concerning that.

The Nazi party did embrace the Christian religion. Religion is great for control. Hitler even made a show of going to church.
Jesus was a Jew and the Nazis scapegoated and murdered six million Jews. Go figure.

    STALINS PURGES (that means murder)

The main target of the anti-religious campaign in the 1920s and 1930s was the Russian Orthodox Church, which had the largest number of faithful.

Nearly all of its clergy, and many of its believers, were shot or sent to labour camps.

Theological schools were closed, and church publications were prohibited.[1]

More than 85,000 Orthodox priests were shot in 1937 alone.[2]

Only a twelfth of the Russian Orthodox Church's priests were left functioning in their parishes by 1941.[3]
    yeh he just slaughtered them

I was attending church every day several years before I was old enough to know Santa doesn't exist. I had religion jammed into my head every day for the next 8 years in a Catholic school. I was drilled into believing I can never be good enough. I can never be worthy of salvation. And I was terrorized with tales of eternal torture if I don't obey. Either do what I'm told or I will burn in fire and suffer more than we can ever imagine, forever - for as little as missing church on Sunday.

And even if we are allowed to enter heaven eventually, in spite of the fact that we are unworthy, we are still going to burn in fire as if in hell, for thousands of years, just not forever.

It took most of my life to move beyond the crap I was fed by religion.

It should be illegal to terrorize children with religion.

The Stalin regime feared the church, just as the Hitler regime feared the trade unions. It had nothing to do with religion. No dictator accepts any organizations besides him.

The Nazi party tried to hijack christianity for nazism purposes. They were successful with the Protestants, less so with the Catholics. Hitler himself wasn't christian, but he believed in a "providence", i.e. in a more abstract deity than christians do.

Some Nazis, then and now, deny that Jesus was a Jew. They declare him "Aryan". :(
