Well, I think you were the only one to even mention it in this thread. Joke or not.
He forgot? I believe he was asked to return them. No, he didn't forget.

You do understand Barack Obama and Joe Biden have a lot more than he does right?

As opposed to a democratic supporter who enjoys watching the Dems destroy the US. Yeah, it's a fair choice.

It wasn't 35 boxes of classified information. It is 11 sets of documents which a set could be two pages. A copy of his schedule on a certain day could still have been classified and I don't think presents much danger of anything. It seems much of what they took was NOT classified and the question why was it still there after their previous inspection of them. And why criminal as in warranting a search warrant?

But since no prosecutor would ever take a case like this what is the object here?

Don't know about Obama and Biden but I do know about Clinton

"In various interviews, Clinton has said that "I did not send classified material, and I did not receive any material that was marked or designated classified."[106] However, in June and July 2016, a number of news outlets reported that Clinton's emails did include messages with some paragraphs marked with a "(c)" for "Confidential."[107][108] The FBI investigation found that 110 messages contained information that was classified at the time it was sent. Sixty-five of those emails were found to contain information classified as "Secret;" more than 20 contained "Top-Secret" information.[109][110] Three emails, out of 30,000, were found to be marked as classified, although they lacked classified headers and were only marked with a small "c" in parentheses, described as "portion markings" by Comey."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_Clinton_email_controversy

And those were real time intelligence matters and hers was open to anyone off the internet. So will the same standards apply?

""Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.""

I beg to different in inference of your statement.

More accurate what would Trump want those 11 sets of possibly classified information for.

So the other poster made up that stuff about Biden and Obama?
But trump had his hand picked DoJ and his hand picked FBI director for 4 yrs. I guess they didn't find much.

But the FBI director is still the one trump appointed. Yet he thinks trump had something illegal. He signed off on the search.

Yep 35 boxes. Nothing about all 35 boxes having classified information.
    Read the OP again.

As for what trump wanted with them, that was my question in the OP.

Maybe they realized he had more than they were aware
Maybe they realized he was making
3 marked and none marked correctly. Gave her plausible deniability. Trump doesn’t have that. He was told what he had, asked for it back, still didn’t comply.

Pretty noticeable that the arguments went from he did nothing wrong, to sure he broke the law, but so what?

Yep what did you mean ALL that classified information when point out it was 35 boxes between the inspection and raid? There were only 11 sets of documents, that not even one for each box. Clinton had 110 on her server and that was real time active classified information. And it was open for and was hacked. The first three months did not even have basic encryption and anyone getting into it could have read the classified information with a text editor.

    Yep what was the intent?

But that is all a ruse anyway. We know why they pulled this ploy, the FBI and DOJ are worried about the full Russiagate and Emailgate docs which Trump declassified being disclosed.

The argument now is that Trump took them home for work like we all do. Problem is that Trump is no longer president so doesn't need the documents. If I took documents home from work and no longer work there, they would have every right to demand them back.

CLASSIFIED, 110. Real time, active intelligence. Information that doesn't have to be marked classified it is real time information on which she was fully briefed.

    Trump declassified them, extremely plausibility.

Garland said the law must be applied equally what say you?

He declassified them and how do you know what they are and whether he needs them. I have little doubt there is a book in the works just like other Presidents and that book will rely on his personal notes and mementos.

Trump is a private citizen. Why does a private citizen need access to top secret documents.

Trump isn't the only president or vice president to have a book deal, so why is he the only one that needs access to top secret documents?

I would be peeved if he declassified those documents just so he can write a book.

Sounds like the FBI received a tip that there were files still marked TOP SECRET in Trump's possession, AFTER Trump's lawyer stated that all the TOP SECRET files had been returned. IF Trump had declassified them, they should have been remarked as such. The FBI had no choice to recover those files,
it's the only way to determine if they WERE declassified. If Trump has documentation that they were declassified, then no harm (other than
possible illegal possession of government property).

But if the FBI received a tip that there were files marked TOP SECRET in Mar a Lago - and Trump's lawyer lied about it - then what
choice did the FBI have BUT to go in and retrieve them? Just answer that.

And we don’t charge people if we don’t have intent to violate the law. Same for Hillary, same for Alberto Gonzalez.
I agree, equal application. He should be treated just like Reality Winner.
