You do know that a search warrant is to be limited to ONLY the evidence they are seeking and must spell out specifically what it is and where they expect to find it and why it is needed. And they can only search where they expect to find it. For instance if they come into my house looking for a 4' sword they can't go through my kitchen drawers looking for it.

So why was a broad search for anything and everything they could find including personal items and communications executed? Hint: it's not about classified or disputed NARA documents.

I’m not convinced he will be charged, let alone convicted. But he has quite clearly done something wrong by keeping and refusing to return classified documents. And you simply don’t care.

So, Garland is lying, interesting take. This will be the biggest political blunder in the history of the country if they decided not to subpoena
documents before they raided a former Presidents home, all the while knowing they wouldn't prosecute.

 

They did issue a subpoena and it's believed Trump or his lawyers were not truthful in handing everything over that was asked. A simple solution would have been to go through everything with NARA/FBI to determine things that Trump could keep, but instead documents were obfuscated for whatever reasons.

The goalposts keep moving. First, it was why didn't they try diplomatically to get the documents back. Then when it was revealed they have been in contact since January, the narrative turned to "why didn't they get the documents sooner if it was so sensitive."

Trump is being handled with kid gloves.

So your saying is they complied to the subpoena and gave back the court ordered documents and the DOJ wanted more and raided a former Presidents home instead of issuing another subpoena. There better be something big soon come from this because to the middle that doesn't like Trump, this seems like a massive overreach by law enforcement on a political opponent.

They handed over some material, but not all that was asked. Didn't you notice that the only reason we knew about the raid was because Trump blabbed about it on social media? We didn't hear about the June visit, and it seems as though the DOJ was doing their best to keep this on the down low for all parties involved.

Well hate to tell you but you're assuming on that. I know you want to be right but let's be real clear here. The GSA boxes and inventories every item a President takes, for this very reason. They file the inventory with Archives and FBI. They wanted 15 of those boxes and got them. Now they wanted another 10 boxes for 11 documents. Wild accusations aren't going to cut it this go around, Garland raided a free citizens house and for the first time in 230 years a former Presidents home. It's not hard for normal Americans go so Hunter has pics committing felonies on a computer, emails detailing foreign government payments, even with a diamond. He's never been raided and he's getting on Air Force 1 last week and the day after Trump's home is raided. This has the appearance of something MAJOR, so something MAJOR better come from it, not some 11 documents with classified/declassified arguments. Garland has boxed the left in and you know it, either something big illegal comes from this, or he single handily reelected Trump and it's all because of the left's leaders Trump obsession.

You're right. Trump is a private citizen. If they want national security documents back, they have every right.

What purpose do those documents have in a private citizen's home? Why was NARA fighting to get back presidential records if the GSA approved and logged everything?

Trump's team said he take those documents home for work. No big deal. Well guess what. He no longer works as a civil servant, so doesn't need those documents. What's the big issue with handing back work related material when you no longer work for the government?
