According to CNN, the economy was the top concern for voters. Since we are in a recession with a 40-year-high inflation and skyrocketing gas prices, Republicans should have taken over the Senate and the House with high majorities in both. But the House and the Senate are, at the time of this writing, notwithstanding, still up in the air. I feel that there is something else at place, especially considering the astronomical implementation of mail-in voting, which does, in fact, have a positive correlation with fraud, and Democrats have a long track record of making cheating easier, from saying that we can't have voter ID because black people, they say, supposedly can't figure it out to mail-in balloting. The results right now appear to defy logic of what apparently the voters top concern was. If the top concern of voters was the economy, and the economy is in empirical shambles, why are Republicans not winning more seats of power, since the Democrats control both chambers of Congress and the White House? If not fraud, what is the explanation? It's a hermetic paradox, if anything.
yep mass fraud - but only in the election that the dems won GOP were all 100% wholesome. Kudos to the people in GA who figured out how to commit mass fraud for Warnock, but allowed Kemp to win to try to trick the GOP or maybe people are debating multiple issues and even though inflation may be #1 it wasn't the sole issue that they based their decision on. It's also weird how polls matter in 2022, but were meaningless in 2020 and 2016
Historical trends show that when the economy is bad, it is in the forefront of voters' minds, and the results of the election fit the mindset of the body politic. The results in this election are unparallel and illogical. Starting in 2020, and now continuing in this election, historical guideposts that reliably predicted election outcomes, such as the bellwether counties, have become null and void. And this started with the astronomical implementation of mail-in balloting, which does, in fact, have a positive correlation with fraud, as mail-in ballots are "more likely to be compromised and more likely to be contested than those cast in a voting booth." But I assume you would argue that this is mere coincidence, yes?
*Check's the conspiracy theories playbook That's because they didn't have time to change all of the races, just governor
At some point you will accept the fact that just like in 2020, there is a very strong Anti-Trump sentiment among many dems, independents and even some moderate Republicans. This "hate" for a political figure is unprecedented in recent history, which negates any of the norms that you are trying to mold to fit the nar Many in the GOP continue to be so focused on the election BS, that they denied the real reason why they lost in 2020. If they had accepted that for 2022 , then there would have been the huge red wave that they wanted. If they do that for 2024, they will crush the dems. Otherwise, if they run Trump, 50/50 who wins
Because Biden and his fellow Democrats convinced their supporters that he had nothing to do with inflation and that there's nothing they can really do about it. The message has been to learn how to live with it -- like learning to eat more Chef Boy R D. Yummy. So when you believe that nonsense why punish those in power when they've convinced you that politicians have no influence over the economy. They finally put an end to Carville's nonsense: "It's the economy stupid!" Well, no, it's not.
If Trump hatred was so intense that it surpassed concern about economy when the economy is bad, why would that not be at the top of mind in said CNN poll? What evidence do you have that Trump hatred was so intense that people were more concerned about not voting for the candidates whom he endorsed? What reliable polling captures that paradoxical phenomenon? It appears that the only people who would vote against their economic well-being to spite Trump are the 247/7 CNN viewer, whose eyes are glued to screens and watch the January 6th hearings on repeat.
That's an interesting point. I would agree with it more if the 2022 midterm election had zero mail-in balloting--or at least the same rate of it as 2017. Then I would wholeheartedly agree that the general stupidity of the American electorate is solely to blame. But then you have to explain to me how Americans got this stupid in such a short amount of time. I mean, I know there have always been stupid Americans. But to this extent? What about 2010? What about 2012? What about 2014? What about 2016? All of those years and are years when the economy was bad, yet Americans kept voting Republican. In your theory, why is it that Americans agree with what Joe Biden is saying, who can barely speak, but they wouldn't believe Obama, who has a silver-tongue and was a lot more charismatic?
Well, there's also the Red Wave hype, which I think was a mistake to promote to voters. If you're convinced that a Red Wave is coming as a Republican it would give you an excuse to stay home. I know of four Republicans that decided to stay home who felt the Republicans were absolutely going to win big. They looked at the polls of the number 1 and 2 concerns being the economy/inflation, plus that over 70% thought the country was going in the wrong direction and it's only logical to think people would vote accordingly. But then when you have someone like Fetterman winning it's a clear sign some voters aren't thinking soundly. If you talk to people on the streets you'd be amazed at how many (even college grads) are ignorant about government functions and politics. Many really don't care to know. Educators are more interested in teaching about racial equality than civics.
The first thing they plan to do is to reopen the fossil fuel industry to get us back to independence. Reversing the first measure Biden implemented to shut us out.
In 2018, the Democrats were talking constantly about a blue wave. And that materialized. Why does Republicans talking about a red wave discourage Republicans from voting, but Democrats talking about a blue wave does not do likewise?
Good question. What's your answer. Democrats managed to motivate their supporters better than Republicans.
Lol...it just goes to show how sick voters are of toxic trump and his big lie. But it's precious that you think doubling down on trump's big lie is a smart tactic for winning elections.
Carville is no longer relevant. His phrase "It's the economy, stupid!" has been a thorn in their sides for decades. They finally figured out a way to make that go away.
Of course there's cheating and fraud. But it only works when margins are already close. While fraud certainly took some 49% races into the 51%, it clear that we still have a large portion of the population in many areas that have diametrically opposed values. In the case of the economy, whether we have a technically majority or not who understand how and why its being deliberately tanked is less important than the fact that we at least have a near majority that seems to want it to continue failing.
There is an extreme element of The Republican Party that is revolting to Americans across the spectrum. Young people (under 30) and women ( the majority gender) turned out. Even this novice reading the data during the run-up correctly summarized this was extremely close. The polls over corrected for MAGA-type voters as badly as they uncounted them in the ‘16 cycle. Edit to add this thought. In this environment upheaval is the worse choice and as currently constituted the Republican Party is guaranteed chaos.
Well, we didn't have the astronomical implementation of mail-in balloting, which has a positive correlation with fraud, back in 2018. So, what do you think my answer is? This paradigm shift in election results started in 2020 with the astronomical implementation of mail-in balloting. Covid was a pretext for it. Now, it's 2022, and we still have this fraud-gravitating method of voting in many places. There is absolutely no excuse for it.
So now the people who vote based on the economy, when the economy is in shambles, are MAGA-type voters. Unbelievable.
Well, I think that instead of opposing mail in ballots the Republicans should encourage it. It's working to the advantage of the democrats. Take that advantage away from them. The problem is is that certain states (like Nevada) have a screwy way of counting ballots. Maybe ballots should be counted as they arrive instead of stored until election day. I'm not opposed to voting by mail, just think it needs cleaned up. If I'm not mistaken it was the democrats who first raised the alarm about fraud under mail in voting. Maybe they discovered how to work it to their advantage.
