I wrote that as total sarcasm before the video was released. Sadly, after the videos were released, it looks like I may not have been that far off. I have no idea what those cops were thinking. The way they approached the car at the outset was an act of pure intimidation and after they caught up with him...that was insane.

This situation is so far off from the norm that I really have no good way to interpret it. There was NOTHING in those videos I saw that looks like cops being cops. What I saw looked a whole lot more like street thugs taking out someone that they figured was selling dope in their territory.

Not surprising that you blame the victim for being slowly tortured to death.

Not surprising that you blame the cops who're afraid of the possible gun in the hands of the victim who won't surrender because the victim has been fed bullshit that cops are out to kill him.

I think these posts make an excellent point that too many people are overlooking. It's obvious that any minor misdeed on the part of a citizen (such as failing to comply or "resisting" by running away) justifies, or at least substantially mitigates, a gang of police officers beating and kicking them to death.

I mean, what was he thinking? There's no reason anyone should be afraid to just lay down and comply with the police. It's not like they're going to mercilessly beat you....

....unless of course you try to do something wrong like try to escape a beating. Then, obviously, they're going to chase you down and beat you to death. Stands to reason!

The whole thing hinges on Nichols contrary, cavalier and disrespectful attitude, along with his disobedience and refusal to comply from beginning to end. Were he white, I'd say the same thing. Where the Police messed up is that in the heat of the moment they focused on subduing or attempting to subdue his rebellious spirit, rather than simply cuff him and put him in the cruiser. Police are only human, and they let him get under their skin. But that was Nichols goal. He lit the fuse. That's why I don't feel sorry for him.

What? They pulled up behind him, started shouting and then yanked him out of the car. I suppose I could see the cops REASONABLY doing that if Nichols had a pedestrian sticking out of his windshield or something but he was stopped at an intersection. I mean, the cop that shot the kid for eating a cheeseburger in his car was less aggressive than these *******s.

There were 4 more convicted earlier in the week for insurrection. Remember, 8x14, 23 hrs a day. :)

If you like, I can remind you when are others are convicted. !!!

The police chief who was fired for corruption, sued and got her job back because of her skin color, she is the person we should be listening to. I am sure she is far far more qualified than all her male counterparts.... for reasons.

This has never and will never happen to be people like me because we comply. The thought of running away or resisting is simply unfathomable to us. However, the next time that I decide to resist arrest and run away from the cops, I will do it knowing that you won't feel sorry for what happens to me. If only people like you exuded the same common sense to inner city thugs resisting arrest, we as a nation could begin to address the systemic problem of wide scale leftist acceptance of thugs resisting arrest.

Amazing the hoops some posters jump through defending the 5 cops.
    Their reason is sooooooo obvious.

“I was outraged. It was incomprehensible to me,’’ Davis said of her officers’ violence against Nichols.
“It was unconscionable. I don’t think I’ve witnessed anything of that nature in my entire career. Really. It was that bad.

“You’re going to see acts that defy humanity,” she said, referring to the video capturing the beating. “You’re going to see a disregard for life, a duty of care, that we’re all sworn to. … There was an amount of aggression that is unexplainable.’’

No one has been convicted of insurrection. Not...a...single... person.

Exactly! Very well put. Totally his fault. Everyone knows a "contrary, cavalier and disrespectful attitude" justifies a fatal beating by five police officers. And naturally if you don't do what a police officer says, of course he and his fellows are going to pummel you to death.

Can you even imagine living in a society where the police didn't pummel you to death for failing to comply? Madness!

Really, they ought to just rule this a "suicide."

Yes! Everyone is holding the police to some sort of insane, super-high standard of not killing people when they lose their temper. That's just ridiculous.

They're only human, like the rest of us. And let's be honest here: which of us HASN'T "messed up in the heat of the moment" and beaten a fellow human to death with fists, boots, and steel batons?

Clearly, YOU haven't viewed it: the video begins after the stop has already been made. Why don't you pause, in your offering opinions about this, to actually first take a look?

No, Im blaming the "illegal use of force" Just pointing out he could have averted the outcome we see had he not resisted. In respnse to

"He ran because he likely feared for his life. If that was the case he was right to be afraid."

I dont think what he did can be characterized as being "right" because in this situation it got him killed.

Cops cant kill a suspect simply to stop him from fleeing. If Im wrongly suspected of a crime and end up with 5 cops pointing their guns at my head, it wouldnt be "right" for me to attempt to run with the belief that the cops cant shoot a fleeing suspect. Assuming remaining alive is the goal.

They would have not been murdered if they would have just posed a regular threat.

Nor should you. It boggles my mind how anyone can watch that and not see Nichols utter disdain for legal authority and his complete lack of civility and honesty towards his fellow men who are hired, trained, and authorized to uphold the law.

No, just a simple realist. You on the other hand...
Only in your alternate reality world. That stupid bitch got exactly what she deserved. Her history of being an ******* further supports that. You will just have to suck it up and live reality.

The 5 cops did not uphold their oaths on how to treat a suspect ,which are the laws of the land for cops.

And that is why they were all fired and 4 charged with 2nd degree MURDER +.
You obviously think 5 guys on 1 is cool.
