    Australia is on its own as far as I'm concerned. America's struggles are at home, not in the South Pacific.

    Assume for the sake of argument that what you say is true. Then, Australians are very foolish people to make themselves a target.

    It's not just Australia, but Vietnam, the Philippines and elsewhere. It's a recognition of the coming reality of where America's opportunities lie and that's the Pacific. China's growth notwithstanding.

    I won't go and find every article but a little research and you will see it is true.

    We do not have the total numbers to make an impact like the US, but for our population we provide an extraordinarily strong force.

    Take Long Tan, Vietnam. A patrol of around 180 Australian diggers came across a dug in force of around 3000.

    The ensuring battles had the following casualties.

    Enemy Casualties
    * 245 KIA (Body Count)
    * 3 Captured
    * 150 KIA (Subsequent Intelligence estimate)
    * 500 WIA (Subsequent Intelligence estimate)
    * NOTE: During Operation MARSDEN in late 1969, Australian forces captured a Viet Cong dispensary that had a list of dead and wounded attributed to Long Tan. Those figures were 878 KIA/Missing/Died of wounds and approximately 1500 WIA

    Friendly Casualties

    6 RAR
    * D Coy: 17 KIA , 23 WIA
    * A Coy: 3 injured
    * B Coy: 1 WIA

    3 Tp 1 APC Sqn
    * 1 DOW (Cpl Clements) 1 WIA (remained on duty)

    You quite conveniently neglected to point out that the Aussies were assisted by US close air support and artillery. We were glad to assist otherwise you would have been overrun.

    ask any sailor about liberty in Oz. :-D

    the local males are such (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) bags, that it makes a sailor that they'll never see again a catch good enough to throw themselves at to the point it scares sailors. :omg:

    The Americans have superior dental hygiene. That makes them irresistible. :)

    Its well known that US sailors are high spending when they come into port. That females of a certain type choose to capitalise on this is also well known. Most women I know wouldnt go anywhere near a US sailor, the potential for STD and AIDS contagion being only one of the reasons.

    We appreciate that concern and that's why our sailors were condoms. So they don't catch any STDs from the locals.

    Most of us arent routinely at sea for months at a time with only fellow males for company on what we locals call "love boats" (AIRCRAFT CARRIERS)

    Yes, hilarious.

    Its no accident that sales of smaller size condoms go through the roof when the fleet is visiting.

    Ian, I don't treat you as a serious person because you've given me no reason to do so. Thus, there's no reason to restrain my humor at your expense.

    Of course they do. You lads get jealous and want to get in on the fun. Sloppy seconds after our sailors are done.
