Friedman was very much a libertarian, and certainly did not fit in with the modern american far right. My scale is entirely an american scale, as americas 2 political parties do not fit neatly on an international left v right scale. As both parties have elements of both left and right principles as far as an international(or the basic political science spectrum) political spectrum goes.

No, the far right is an embarrasment. It is dominated by religious fundamentalists. I can respect economic conservatives, and I mean real economic conservatives like eisenhower, not fake economic conservatives like reagan. My best friend is a republican, and he is the smartest person I know. Probably smarter than I am, but he is far too sensible to call obama a fascist, or think he is born in kenya.

Ps. Yes I am more embarrassed by the far left, as I am lumped into a category with morons like code pink and peta. I have almost nothing in common with them. I am a liberal, and I understand why!! I have intellectual foundations for my beliefs. That wing of the american left loves slogans, and catch-phrases with almost no intellectual foundation.

I think reform is the perfect tool.
