Thousands of people (up to millions now) lobbied congressman and ultimatly the president in support of this issue. If you want to oppose assisting, then by all means get several thousand people together and get out there and spread the word. Talk to people, talk to politicians, but whining on the internet will get you nowhere.

Well...that's awful nice of us!!! It is not like we have $$$ issues. Are there any other countries that need the service of our military free of charge? I thought that was the job of the UN? Why even have the UN? Why support it and why pay for it if it does no good?

 

We're talking about 100 special forces troops.

Even before 9/11 we made heavy use of special forces in this role.

Advising and helping build local mililtias is the founding principle of unconventional warfare since its inception.

This is really the basic reason for special forces existence, to send into conflict areas and train troops and advise.

What is wrong with this effort? We did this stuff before the war on terror started, you just never heard about it.

I swear its like some people expect the USA to provide absolutely zero material military support to any nation on the planet under any circumstances.

The USA is the global hegemon, can we please act like it?

 

How quick "liberals" are to embrace foreign interventionism when it's their guy in the White House...

 

Kind of weird isn't it? On the other hand conservatives are all to willing to adopt liberal positions when their guy is in the WH.

 

I believe a rational argument can be made in favor of such intervention, even if I might disagree. My problem is with the hypocrite "liberals" who all of sudden turn into moral crusaders just itching to send our military into foreign countries when there's a Democrat in the White House.

And the hypocrisy of 'conservatives' who never found a foreign country too small to invade if their guy is in office, but cry crocodile tears over Africa and Libya when Obama is in office.

I agree...If our SF is going to go in and capture/kill someone like that Kony guy, I'm all for it! My son is training in Psy Ops right now, his language they had him take was French...so there's a good change he could end up going to Africa someday too.
